Three More Companies Step Up to Support Canadian Alpine Ski Team
Calgary, Canada (Saturday, November 19, 2005) - Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA), the governing body for ski racing in Canada, has announced that both POLAR Electro Canada and LEKI Poles have joined ACA’s pool of suppliers. Additionally, NRB Sports Inc, the Canadian distributor of Rollerblade inline skates, has signed a new sponsorship agreement.
Through a new two-year agreement, POLAR becomes the official and exclusive heart rate monitor product used by athletes and trainers of the Canadian Alpine Ski Teams (CAST), and official dryland training and testing partner. Through the use of S610i heart rate monitors and computer interface software, POLAR will enable CAST's trainers with the tools to ensure the athletes are training safely and effectively -- not only in the off-season, but also throughout the on-snow months as Canada's teams prepare for and compete against the best alpine athletes in the world.
LEKI, a world leader in the manufacturing of ski, hiking and trekking poles, has signed on to the supplier pool for a new, one-year partnership. Under the terms of the new deal, LEKI will be considered an official ski pole supplier for Alpine Canada Alpin, the members of the Canadian Alpine Ski Team, and the National Development members.
Canadian Alpine Ski Team athletes Jan Hudec from Banff Alpine Racers (AB), Louis-Pierre Hélie from Mont-Ste-Anne (QC), and Nick Zoricic from Craigleith Ski Club (ON) will be using LEKI products effective immediately.
LEKI has also agreed to provide product for use in Alpine Canada Alpin’s annual fundraising and promotion programs. The company joins a prominent list of Canadian Alpine Ski Team pole suppliers which already includes Gabel, Komperdell, Swix, and Rossignol.
Through the sponsorship agreement signed by NRB Sports, Rollerblade will supply over 40 CAST members with a pair of Lightning Top Fuel inline skates to use for off-season fitness training. Inline skating provides an aerobic workout that works the leg muscles for long periods of time with less than half the impact shock cause to joints by running. National alpine ski team members will also be provided with all protection equipment for the length of this one year contract.
In addition to Rollerblade inline skates, NRB Sports is the Canadian subsidiary of Nordica Skis and Boots and Nitro Snowboards.
