Idaho Ski Resorts Announce USASA-Sanctioned Snowboard Series
Donnelly, ID (Wednesday, November 30, 2005) - Idaho's Tamarack Resort and Brundage Mountain Resort will host a United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA)-sanctioned competition – the Payette River Valley Snowboard Series – throughout the winter. The series will culminate during the national championships at North-Star-at-Tahoe this spring.
“We’re delighted to provide riders with the opportunity to qualify to compete on the national stage in their own backyard,” said Ken Rider, director of resort sales at Tamarack Resort. “Area snowboarders in the past have had to travel hundreds, sometimes thousands, of miles to qualify for amateur snowboarding’s premier final event. We see the series as a launching pad for amateur snowboarders in Idaho and the surrounding region.”
Along with Tamarack Resort’s huge SuperPipe and terrain park, and Brundage Mountain Resort’s 40-plus years of hosting snow sports competitions, this new USASA series will bring additional excitement and fun to the Payette River Valley.
Brundage Mountain’s Giant Slalom course will be set on an ideal long and steep run. The boardercross course will be set on a swooping, twisting, fast run, to be maintained most of the winter for everyone to enjoy.
“Snowboarding has been the fastest-growing winter sport for years and we want to help all ages and abilities have the opportunity to compete, learn, and have fun with this new series,” said Stephanie Goodman, Brundage Mountain Event Coordinator.
The series will include three Slopestyle and Superpipe events at Tamarack, and three Boardercross and Alpine events at Brundage, on the following dates:
