Ski, Tube or Snowboard for 24 Hours While Fighting Cancer at Greek Peak
Cortland, NY (Wednesday, January 11, 2006) - Greek Peak Mountain Resort is hosting the first American Cancer Society's Vertical Challenge east of the Rockies. This 24-hour event begins at 8:30 a.m. on Mar.4 and ends at 8:30 a.m. on Mar. 5 at the New York State ski and snowboard area.
The event is being held in memory of Nye Williamson and Cristy Marks. Nye had been a long time Ski Patrol and friend to many at Greek Peak. Cristy's Run, a popular trail, was dedicated to the indomitable spirit of Cristy Marks. Resort staffers hope that this event will inspire others as well as honor the memory of these two special members of the Greek Peak family.
Greek Peak has opened its ski slopes, tubing hill and cross country ski center for this 24-hour event, and is looking for snow sport enthusiasts who are prepared to donate their time to an important cause and have fun at the same time. Sign up as a team captain, team member or an individual competitor. Teams can consist of up to 10 skiers or snowboarders.
Mountain management are also seeking several volunteers to play a key role in organizing and running the event and contribute in making this event event happen. Contact the resort for more information.
