6th Annual Spring Meltdown Race & Festival at Snowbasin Ski Resort
Huntsville, UT (Tuesday, March 21, 2006) - Utah's Snowbasin ski and snowboard resort has scheduled its 6th Annual Spring Meltdown Race & Festival for Saturday, April 8.
The "pole, pedal, paddle"-type race will include a modified downhill ski racing course from Snowbasin's Needles Lodge atop the gondola to the bottom of the mountain, ending at Earl’s Plaza. Competitors will then hop on their bikes to ride down, up, and down the Old Road to the Basin (Highway 226), ending up at Pineview Reservoir where racers will paddle their kayaks. In consideration of snow and weather a cross-country ski portion could replace the biking leg of the Meltdown Race.
Registration for the triathlon will take place on the day of the event from 6:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. at the Ski School Desk in Earl’s Lodge at the resort. Team and solo registrations will both be accepted. Pre-registering is available for a $25 fee, or late registrations may do so for $40. Registration includes an event participant t-shirt and a ticket for the raffle. Raffle prizes include a Snowbasin Summer Season Pass.
The Meltdown Festival on the Plaza at Snowbasin starts at noon. Race results will be posted, an awards ceremony held, and the drawing for raffle prizes will take place. Live Entertainment will be showcased on the Plaza from noon until 5 p.m.
