Burton's third annual Abominable Snow Jam snowboarding competition takes place next week, and top snowboarders, campers and yetis alike are getting ready for the summer's biggest snowboard contest on Mt. Hood, Oregon from July 8-12, 2006. Featuring a quarterpipe, halfpipe and slopestyle competition, the Abominable Snow Jam brings top international riders like Nicolas Müller, Anne-Flore Marxer, Mason Aguirre, Danny Davis, Natasza Zurek, Danny Kass, Scotty Arnold, Hana Beaman, Gretchen Bleiler, Kazuhiro Kokubo and Chad Otterstrom to Mt. Hood for a laid-back event in the hub of the U.S. summer snowboard scene.

Snow levels are holding strong at Hood, and the crew from Planet Snow Design and High Cascade Snowboard Camp are working hard to build the event’s first 22-foot halfpipe. High Cascade Snowboard Camp is hosting the quarterpipe contest on July 8 and the halfpipe competition on July 9. On July 10, the Abominable Snow Jam wraps up with the slopestyle competition, designed by the park crew at Timberline Resort. Besides yeti sightings and the summer sun on the glacier, riders will also enjoy on-snow barbeques, massage therapist treatments and parties at the local Hood hangouts.

Thanks to the event's sponsors, the Abominable Snow Jam will be offering over $150,000 in prizes including Motorola phones, a Volvo C70 Convertible, two 2006 Harley-Davidson 883 Sportster motorcycles, two 2007 Ski-Doo Freestyle Backcountry 550F snowmobiles and plenty of cash. In addition, male and female Best Trick prizes for the quarterpipe, halfpipe and slopestyle events include a Rolex watch, a MacBook Pro and a Sony HDV video camera respectively.
