Ski Mountaineer Andrew McLean to Tour U.S.

(Monday, July 3, 2006) - This month, Mountain Hardwear athletes Andrew McLean and Mike Libecki will embark on The Sharp End Tour, a series of eight multimedia presentations featuring outdoor athletic accomplishments, raffle prizes and parties.

McLean has been pursuing extreme ski mountaineering for over 20 years and has accumulated over 200 first descents around the world. Big wall climber Mike Libecki has established first ascents, traverses, and other offbeat adventures around the globe, mostly solo.

The tour will feature McLean descending incredibly steep couloirs and Libecki traveling far and wide to reach virgin granite walls.

  • July 6: St. Louis, MO – Mad Art Gallery
  • July 12: State College, PA – Penn State University
  • July 13: Asheville, NC – Asheville Pizza & Brewery Company
  • July 19: Truckee/Tahoe City – Resort at Squaw Creek
  • July 20: Ketchum, ID – Next Stage Theater
  • July 26: Fayetteville, AR – Dickson Theater
  • July 27: Burlington, VT – Higher Ground

Tickets can be purchased for $15.00 at the door and from participating retailers. A portion of proceeds from The Sharp End Tour will go to benefit the The American Alpine Club and Mountain Hardwear’s recently established McNeill Nott Award. This annual grant is aimed at aspiring climbers, who like Sue Nott and Karen McNeill, focus their talents on the challenges of world class alpine pursuits. The American Alpine Club is dedicated to promoting climbing knowledge, conserving mountain environments, and serving the American climbing community.
