Ski Season Underway at Treble Cone

Wanaka, New Zealand (Monday, July 3, 2006) - Treble Cone resort celebrated record numbers and strong early-season ski conditions late last week with champagne and musical entertainment, welcoming the new ski and snowboard season for 2006.

With a snow base of at least 75cm of snow at the top of both the Main Basin and Saddle Basin, Treble Cone officials were confident that all guests were delighted with the first day of the season and the Chandon bubbles which was served on the deck along with the jazzy tunes provided by Lucky Legs Trio.

"I have been dreaming about this day for the past six months. The resort looks in great shape each year the TC team comes up with new ways to offer us an even better snow experience. I know I will be trying to squeeze in as many days on the slopes as possible," said one of the first guests who boarded the mountain an hour and a half before opening.

"We have had ideal start with excellent winter snow throughout the Home and Saddle Basins. All facilities ran smoothly on the first day of operations. It was smiles all over the mountain as skiers enjoyed the blue skies, great snow and a glass of complimentary bubbles for the Chandon Opening Day," said Area Manager, Jackie van der Voort.

Season ticket sales and ski packages have trumped previous seasons and Australian visitors are increasing every year, now representing a third of all Treble Cone visitors.

"Improving ticket sales and bookings through our website and operators clearly show that the great snow and new improvements that we have made at TC with Easy Rider and the permanent Terrain Park are proving attractive to skiers both locally and in Australia," said Rob Skinner, Director of Treble Cone. "We are aggressively hunting a large slice of the Australian ski market with a record number of Aussies coming over the Tasman in search of a better snow experience."
