Australian Ski Resort Deploys Wi-Fi Boundary to Boundary

Mt. Buller, Australia (Thursday, August 3, 2006) - Australia's Mt. Buller Alpine Ski Resort has retained the firm SnowSports Interactive to provide multimedia Internet access to all visitors and skiers. Resort visitors using PDAs, Wi-Fi enabled phones, or laptops will be able to access a whispar wireless mesh network from almost anywhere within the 650-acre ski and snowboard resort.

SnowSports Interactive, an Australian technology company that develops high-tech solutions for the skiing and snowboarding industry, will utilize Strix's multi-radio, multi-channel, multi-RF wireless solution to provide coverage at locations around the mountain with restricted lines of sight. The solution will provide substantial coverage across the 7,000-bed base in the Mt. Buller Village area and across the skiable terrain. Obvious benefits for end-users will include the ability to download the latest weather information, make free or low-cost VOIP telephone calls, and to email pictures back to friends at home.

Located a three-hour drive from Melbourne, Victoria's capital, Mt. Buller has the greatest uphill capacity of any Victorian ski area, with a network of 25 lifts capable of moving more than 40,000 people per hour around the Resort's 80km of groomed trails.
