MLK Weekend in Park City Now Focuses on Skiing

Park City, UT – Park City is inviting visitors to spend the Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) holiday weekend, Jan. 16-18, skiing instead of fighting the typical Sundance crowds.

Traditionally, these dates were sold out due to the scheduling of the annual Sundance Film Festival and its nearly 50,000 attendees who take over Park City’s hotels, restaurants and streets each January. Now that the film festival has been rescheduled to later in the month, Jan. 21-31, the popular MLK holiday weekend is once again open for uncrowded skiing and riding in Park City, just 35 minutes from the Salt Lake International Airport.

Area ski resorts have prepared a number of MLK specials to lure skiers back to Park City over the holiday weekend. Park City Mountain’s “Ready, Set, Snow! Package” offer visitors the chance to save up to 40 percent on early season vacations  by booking stays through Jan. 20 (the Christmas/New Year’s holiday period excluded) at the Grand Summit Hotel, Silverado Lodge, Sundial Lodge, DoubleTree by Hilton Park City and Vintage on the Strand. Deer Valley Resort’s “MLK Weekend Package” includes 20 percent off lodging, lift tickets and select rental ski gear, with a minimum of a three-night stay Jan. 14-18 at a wide range of accommodations managed by Deer Valley Resort properties.

In addition to Park City’s ski resorts, Park City businesses have collaborated to provide incoming visitors additional  MLK Holiday Specials. The Chateaux Deer Valley and Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley present guests with the popular Classic Ski Package, including hotel accommodations, a breakfast buffet and adult lift tickets for two, per night. The Hampton Inn & Suites Park City and the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Park City are offering a 15 percent discount off all lodging rooms and suites for the long weekend.

Exclusive Excursions Transportation is offering discounted private transportation to and from the Salt Lake Airport, as well as a 10 percent discount on their guided snowshoe tours. Black Tie Delivery Ski Rentals is offering 20 percent off ski and snowboard rentals with free delivery, no hidden fees and no lines through Feb. 1.
