“Yesterday I crashed training Super-G and hurt my knee,” Vonn confirmed on Twitter on Tuesday. “The good news; I do NOT need surgery. The bad news; I won’t be able to race in Lake Louise. LL has always been my favorite stop on the WC and I am devastated to not be coming this year. I am down but I am NOT out!”

Vonn has already announced her plan to retire after the current World Cup season, 18 years after debuting on the circuit at the age of 16. She is the most winning female in World Cup history, having tallied 82 victories to date, just four short of Swedish legend Ingemar Stenmark’s men’s record.
