Late October 2022 saw widespread moderate snowfall through much of the West. Some of this snowpack persisted in Utah and the Tetons as the first third of November was very snowy there as well as California. It has since been very dry. However the earlier storms opened the majority of terrain at Grand Targhee, Mammoth and all 4 of Utah's Cottonwood Canyon areas on 4 foot bases. Elsewhere, reported base depths in the 18 inch range signal high dependence upon snowmaking. Snow is expected in northern regions next week.
California: It snowed up to a foot during the first week of November, then 2+ feet at Tahoe and 4 feet at Mammoth Nov. 7-9.
Snowfall, base depth, percent open: Palisades 8,000 (51, 19, 11%), Alpine (41, 19, 12%), Northstar (32, 18, 17%), Mt. Rose (39, 17, 31%),
Heavenly (36, 31, 14%), Kirkwood (43, 18, 39%), Arizona Snowbowl (18, 24, 13%). Mammoth has a 38 inch base on 60 inches snowfall, 70% open

Pacific Northwest: There were three storms in late October but the last one was all rain. Early November storms
started as rain but ended as snow. The Whistler alpine cams showed a considerable base Nov. 10, but opened 9% at Thanksgiving with no more new snow.
Snowfall and base depths, percent open or opening date if known: Crystal (45, 25, 12%), Hood Meadows (29, 18), Mt. Bachelor (36, 14, Nov. 30).
Canadian Rockies and Interior B.C.: Late October and early November snowfall was above average but it has since been mostly dry. Lake
Louise and Sunshine opened Nov. 3-4. Snowfall and base depths in inches: Revelstoke (63, 29, Dec. 3), Kicking Horse (53, 23, Dec. 9), Lake
Louise (35, 16, 13%), Sunshine (70, 25, 41%), Castle Mt. (51, 24, Dec. 2), Fernie (70, 27, Dec. 3), Red Mt (46, 22, Dec. 10).
U. S. Northern Rockies: Early November snowfall was 3 feet in the Tetons and 2 feet elsewhere. Snowfall and base depths:
Grand Targhee (98, 43, 90%), Jackson (60, 36, 18%), Schweitzer (42, 17, 7%), Brundage (40, 24, 6%), Lookout (60, 13, 25%).
Utah: Early November snowfall of 5 feet in the Cottonwoods and 3-4 feet elsewhere kicked off an excellent early season.
Snowfall, base depth, percent open: Alta (104, 48, 76%), Snowbird (96, 49, 67%), Brighton/Solitude (94, 38, 80%),
Snowbasin (54, 31, 35%), Park City (66, 33, 30%), Brian Head (57, 29, 59%).
Northern and Central Colorado: Snowmaking openings were A-Basin Oct. 23, Keystone Oct. 28 and Winter Park Oct. 31. Early November
snowfall averaged 1.5 feet, with about a foot since then. Snowfall, base depth, percent open or opening date if known: A-Basin (38, 19, 4%),
Beaver Creek (51, 18, 5%), Breckenridge (58, 18, 10%), Keystone (37, 18, 13%), Loveland (47, 18, 8%), Steamboat (67.5, 23, 18%),
Vail (60, 21, 23%), Winter Park (51, 18, 12%).
Southern and Western Colorado: Early November snowfall was almost 3 feet at Wolf Creek and about half that elsewhere. Snowfall
and base depths: Gothic Snow Lab (28, 6), Monarch (30, ?). Wolf Creek has a 27 inch base on 51 inches snowfall and is 90% open. Aspen/Snowmass
is 17% open on a 20 inch base.
Northeast: Warm weather and rain prevented any areas from opening for the first half of November. There has since been cold weather for
snowmaking but storms have been as much rain as snow. Snowfall, percent open: Jay (15, 4%), Stowe (16, 14%), Sugarbush (9, 7%), Killington (7, 11%),
Okemo (6, 17%), Stratton (7, 17%), Whiteface (7, 10%), Sunday River 12%, Sugarloaf 10%, Tremblant 14%.
