    2009-2010 Jackson Hole Snow Reports

Jackson yesterday was pretty cruddy given the amount of new snow they had just a couple of days before. Still pockets of drier snow in non-sun affected areas. Definitely needs another storm to make the lower half skiable as there are many small trees pocking through the snow pack. Hopefully...

    Snowboarding: NZ or Oz?

Snow over here is nothing like North America. However, Australia does not compete with NZ as far as snow goes. Nz has superior snow quality and quantity, has more choice and has better terrain. A few days each in both Queenstown and Wanaka would be well worth your while.

When do resorts begin to count a seasons snowfall?

I was wondering when resorts begin counting their snowfall accumulation? I had a look the websites from the canyons, park city, snowbird, alta, snow basin and some Colorado resorts. Some show year to date snowfall as 10 inches and some show none. Snowbird and Alta show nothing but have...

    Real NZ - Club Fields 04, 05, 06

Club Fields It is really for an outsider to turn up and ski. All you need to do is book. The other thing to note is that quite often, the clubs have school truants weeks and university student weeks which you probably want to avoid. Apart from that, the place will welcome you. The most...

    Real NZ - Club Fields 04, 05, 06

From about mid September onwards top to bottom coverage in New Zealand is limited to groomers at the bottom. Some areas (Treble Cone , Ruapehu) often have congestion problems on key access groomers at the end of the day. Mt Hutt is different from the club fields which are predominately tussock...

    Real NZ - Club Fields 04, 05, 06

There is no doubt that the club areas have very good years and very bad years and this year was without a doubt one of the worst! The fields seem to have 2 good seasons for every 1 bad season so there is a bigger risk of getting poor snow here than on a commercial field. In NZ most fields are...

Cardrona and Treble Cone - Last Days of September

Awesome Weather and Great Spring Snow greeted the school holiday marks at the end of a lean NZ season in the Southern Lakes. Treble Cone closed on Sunday and Cardrona will follow by closing next weekend. Very good spring coverage at Cardrona and at Treble Cone after 20cm of fresh at the start...
