    Stowe Bull

Who knows. I just seems a bit far fetched that they are being so optimistic (we will be opening more terrain this weekend), when they are set to get about an inch of rain in the next 36 hrs, and have temps in the 40-50s. So maybe, just mabye they blew enough of the man made to open those...

    Stowe Bull

NOAA has RAIN forecasted for Mt. Mansfield tonight - Saturday. And yet, publicly they are stating that they plan on opening more terrain this weekend: HUH?

    Killington 1/3

Wow ... that ice on the ungroomed trails is just nasty, nasty, nasty. Did you not notice all that glaring ice before you started your way down the trail? ;)

    Worst Dec in memory

When I was a little fellow (about 16-17 years ago), I recall a particularlly poor early season that was pretty similar to this one, at least when I was skiing in Nov or early Dec. The weekend consisted of North Slope @ Stowe, uploading @ Sugarbush to upper FIS, which sheer blue ice, and a run...

    Mansfield routes, etc.

There's a lot of ways down all (?) aspects of Mt. Mansfield. Some of them are more advisable than others, and believe it or not someone was actually killed up there in 2005 (http://www.wcax.com/Global/story.asp?S= ... v=4QcSWNML). The backside is skiable, but be prepared to skin back up or...

And Stowe is now closed ...

Jay Peak Season Total Snow Fall

Interestingly enough, the Stowe total snowfall for the yr has been reset on their web site. I'm not sure why this is; last week they were reporting 34 inches.

    Stowe 11/25- 11/26

Current conditions are so poor though, that it will take a good couple of dumps to get the majority of the mountain open, particularly on the steeper natural snow trails. Sure, one good 18-24" dump will give you some nice freshies for the day, but once it gets skied off :(

    Stowe 11/25- 11/26

During the day, there was no inversion. A top the summit in full sun, the thermometer was registering about 40F. Down at the base, my car dash board was indicating 47F. I suppose it's possible things reversed themselves in the evening. More than anything, though, the weather sucks ...

    Stowe 11/25- 11/26

No pics, left the camera at home in CT (oops). Stowe had 1 top to bottom run open, two distinct named trails. It was upper Lord to North Slope. Throughout the day on Saturday, they skied like different trails. By mid-morning, Lord was exposed to the sun and the snow varied from fairly...

Best bet for Thanksgiving in Vt or 'dacks

Stowe just updated their website, and now a set opening day isn't specified. This weekend they were claiming that they would be open on 11/22, but now that seems in doubt.

    Widespread Major Winter Storm Forecast

Midnight in Stowe and not a flake.

    Another rookie question. Skill classificaiton?

I have personally never skied on any of the SuperSport skis. If you are a strong, heavy guy I think the 5* would be OK for you. However, before sinking that much money into a ski, I'd highly suggest demo'ing a few skis and seeing what suits you best. For $40 or less you should be able to demo...

Jay Peak and Mt. Hor 1/29

Very awesome pics. At least someone was skiing the pow this weekend :)

    snowboard boot liners

Blech, I paid $629 for mine, online. I got them baked / fitted for free, well, only had to pony up a 12-pack. I am just getting used to my AT setup ... the fact that everything weighs so little really threw my body for a loop the first couple of days on the gear.
