    Superior via Lake Blanche?

Thanks for the reply. We ended up doing it and it was a great route. Really crappy rock on the Cardiac Pass side of Superior, really awesome rock on the other side (traversing over to Monte Cristo). I'm still gonna go check out your post just to look at the photos.

    Mammoth, Dec. 18-19, 2014

In the 4 seasons since I've taken up the sport, I've never seen the Eagle side look (or ride) anything other than...just yuck. Been there with super high winds, been there with icy conditions, been there with incredibly bony conditions....it's just never been good for me. Glad you got up to...

    Superior via Lake Blanche?

Anyone ever hiked to Superior/Monte Cristo via Big Cottonwood? I'm planning on doing this when we visit for Oktoberfest in a couple weeks and just wondering if anyone has any thoughts. Seems like a stout day (5 miles one way, 4900 vertical gain) but most of it is trail. I know the more common...

    New Summit Lift at Solitude

I find the Honeycomb laps long and arduous, especially as a boarder. Though I have yet to visit during a season where the coverage on navarrone and similar runs coming from the top of Powderhorn into Honeycomb is decent. The closest I've come is lapping the area around the return lift. To me...

    American Fork Canyon (UT) 4x4 - 6/22/2014

Certainly looks hairball to me. Reminds me of the time I took our Xterra Pro 4x out to get to a hike here in Vegas (Bridge Mountain for the curious). It was my first experience in serious off roading terrain and I was petrified. Giant boulders, super slanted angles, it was pretty white knuckle...

    Hemlock @ Mammoth controlled/patrolled?

That's a great story, I wonder if patrol bombed it back then. Either way, today is a much different story. All manner of people were lapping Hemlock all day. You can see there are several people starting the hike just in my Gopro snapshot. It was a bummer to watch such primo terrain get tracked...

Thanks, I don't think I'll pass it up next time.

In case you're interested, here's what Hangman's looked like last week. Lucked out and got it very lightly tracked, but coverage was very good. Would've hit it repeatedly, but I wanted to lap 23, not the Gondola. Here's a snap: Here's the video: https://vimeo.com/91471771

    Alta/Bird 4/7/2014

Just rode Hangman's last Wednesday in 15 or so of fresh. In fact, I lapped the entire top of Mammoth for about 10 or so runs. Hangman's was my first, but it's much like everything else up there: steep in the beginning, eases up as it goes. For the most part, each chute is the same, just depends...

    Alta/Snowbird, UT 4/5-6/2014

Just talked to my boss who was out yesterday, and he said the same thing: shockingly empty with fresh lines in places that usually get tracked. He said it was like the only people there were tourists who didn't know Alta. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Are Tony Crocker and Admin this entertaining when they meet in person?

Lol, the minutiae seems crazy, but I have to say, I'm of a similar mindset as Tony when it comes to statistics. I love analyzing numbers and I love snowboarding, so combining the two is natural. I can see where he gets his urge to compulsively track everything. I've wondered the same thing.

I agree. Heck, when we drive to SLC, we don't even want to "slum it" at Sundance, and even their terrain is much better than Eagle's. It's not so much a knock against SLC skiers that they don't want to travel, it's just an observation. I can't blame them, they have world class resorts all...

    Snowbasin 3/31/2014

If you live in SLC, then you are probably like most SLC skiers I know: super spoiled and not willing to travel for your powder. I mean that in the nicest way possible, BTW. If untracked powder is high on your list, try and time a storm and hit Eagle Point in Beaver. It's like 3-ish hours...

This seems reasonable, though there is a big gray area between "tracked" and "fresh/clean/whatever you want to call virgin snow". Maybe it goes virgin-barelytracked-lightlytracked-tracked-chowder-etc
