2010-11: The Greatest Natural Snow Year of Our Lifetimes?

:rotfl: The dude is a geography guy, hahah. Patrick was just telling me this past weekend how his sarcastic humor is often missed online. Maybe Patrick needs to use more emoticons?

2010-11: The Greatest Natural Snow Year of Our Lifetimes?

Wow, way to take what I wrote completely out of context.

2010-11: The Greatest Natural Snow Year of Our Lifetimes?

Pfffft. As if skiers that can't afford to fly across the continent to ski count any less when we are talking about the greatest snow year of "OUR" lifetimes. That is insulting. Again, I don't care how you weight your calculations. My contention is the inclusiveness of your conclusion. Which I...

2010-11: The Greatest Natural Snow Year of Our Lifetimes?

Whoa, hold on a sec, I must have missed that part. So 10-11 was poor in Alaska, New Mexico, the Southeast, and half of Eastern Canada and it was only average in the entire east in general. Sounds to me like half of the ski areas in North America had an average or below average year if we were to...

2010-11: The Greatest Natural Snow Year of Our Lifetimes?

   Really Tony? You expect us east coast guys to keep tabs on the west coast and call your stats out when the west coast numbers you cite (where you are the expert) are off? Why would I question your numbers? I will leave that to admin and the western contingent. No...

    Happy Skier Index

How you someone complain about crowds when they are part of the crowding problem??? ](*,) Or... if you don't like the crowds, ski at a struggling family owned ski area. Isn't that the MO of MRA any ways? Why are MRA supports going to the corporate ski areas? And then complaining about too...

    2010-11 Ski-Day Count

Yesterday ends the season at 39. My goal was 60 so you can add that to the discussion points on why 2010-2011 wasn't a super great season for the east coast. At least from a powder perspective, just not a ton of big dumps during the week worthy of a vacation day.

2010-11: The Greatest Natural Snow Year of Our Lifetimes?

I can't speak for JSpin, but I 100% agree with Geoff (and that doesn't happen hardly ever   ). 2010-2011 was below average for me but I think it was probably above average for Joe Regular Skier since it was consistent and generally not icy hardly ever.

2010-11: The Greatest Natural Snow Year of Our Lifetimes?

Geoff really nailed the summary. 2nd on everything he wrote. This shows one of the limitations of Tony's methods. Late season in the east, quantity of terrain doesn't matter at all. In April, it is all about having one great bump run you can lap with great bump lines. Quantity of terrain or...

2010-11: The Greatest Natural Snow Year of Our Lifetimes?

So then perhaps this thread should be titled "The Greatest Most Consistent Snow Year of Our Lifetimes on Weekends" instead. Too many qualifiers for such a broad based title.

2010-11: The Greatest Natural Snow Year of Our Lifetimes?

But just because consistency works best for metro population skiers does not a great snow year make. Big difference between great snow and consistent snow. I certainly don't think Tony's misplaced nationwide greatest snow of our lifetimes would apply if the west had the consistent season we had...

2010-11: The Greatest Natural Snow Year of Our Lifetimes?

Certainly not for the northeast by a long shot. Good year overall but I certainly won't remember it for epic powder or frequent snow storms. Just for its consistency and lack of thaws.

    Vermont Snow Updates 2010-11

Good point from Pat. Burlington had a storm of the century this past season so I could see them reaching a third highest total.

    Vermont Snow Updates 2010-11

BIzarre posts happen frequently when posters that have a CA location comment on VT conditions. :-D  Just kidding. Definitely not a record setting year for New England in any region that I am aware of but especially not VT. We saw a lot more coastal storms this year benefiting...
