So it appears that Taos is still doing the "open to hikers" first before they open the lift, or is it because the base is so low they don't want that many people up there? When I was there in spring 2019 (after a nice dump + a solid base) I was infuriated that they let hikers go track it up...

My worst experience with lightning/thunder was actually at Hidden Valley, outside of St. Louis back in 1994, I believe. A t-storm approached, and I had just gotten on the lift. A lightning pocket developed in the storm just west of the ski area, and I probably had 4 or 5 bolts within a mile...

Brundage yesterday was DEEP... (19-29" out of this very overproducing storm.) the entire town was there, but it was still fun and not truly crowded by most peoples standards.

I saw that when it was on the news (vai ABC7 facebook). I thought it had already been mentioned on here, but I guess not. That's some heavy duty damage, for sure. I guess they're (Caltrans) is making plans to repair, which ultimately is good, as I would hate to see that access disappear...
