In my extremely un-educated opinion, go for Jay. It's close and you have a 2for1, so you can take a buddy. I'd also consider St-Anne, but it's too far for a day trip isn't it? my 2cents.

I don't really think that a trip back to mammoth is in the cards at this point, but we'll see as the spring wears on. Maybe, just maybe, i can make it work...... I must say, after that one trip last year, I am hooked on that mountain!

I've never had a problem with my helmet. From -35C (with thin baclava... yum... baclava) to +15C with vents wide open; it's been perfect. Wouldn't ski without it. (though i sometimes do need to take it off on the lift to let my head cool, on warmer days).

The killer thing here is that it happended on the longest, slowest trail on the hill. If you wanted to ski fast (as this guy clearly did) what the **** was he doing on NANSEN?!? It's not like (even that late in the season) there wasn't a half decent black diamond run open. Does tremblant...

What has been a really dismal season for me (this would be my 4th day only) would end up being spectacular. In the parking lot by 8:45. Top half of the mountain was socked in by fog. Immediately knew that i was going to be speding the day doing laps off the bottom half of the mountain...

I remember being in that area last may, and smelling it, but not seeing it. This really has been a truely tragic season at mammoth, given the 6 other deaths there this winter. Such a sharp contrast to the amazing snow season they've been having (640" already!) I can't imagine what the other...
