Ouch! Sorry about your luck. That stinks! If it's any encouragement, when I was teaching skiing, lots of people would show up with broken arms and do pretty well. So as long as you don't mind lift-served, you should be able to get back out there soon! have a speedy recovery.

I stand corrected about my thoughts as to western areas getting snow :oops: However, I still stand by the assertion that the difference in temperature (within reason of course) contributes heavily to "lake effect." Just now I have no good evidence :)

Though I'm not a climatologist, I would agree with that statement. It does have it's limits, where if it's too cold, the air is so dry that the water vapor just dissipates (i think that's why it seldom snows when it's really really really cold out). In general, the warmer the lake, the more...

wow, those are some serious snow falls. I never really believed my dad when he talked about lake-effect snow, but one winter i lived about 40km northwest of toronto, and we got way more snow and way colder temps than TO. Since TO is on the northshore of lake ontario, we get nothing in the way...

I think i learned more in 20 minutes reading this thread that in 20 years of skiing bumps and feeling like my spinal column might come out my ears. Now to wait for some snow and put this to practice

This seems to me to be the typical tech debate: we have the ability to use our powers for good (satisfying the statistical queries of Tony, Franko etc..., potentially improving the area based on how the data) or for bad (revealing stashed, catching poachers, etc...) My 2cents: If resorts start...

Man, the IRS is NOT a group that I would want on my case... I don't make any money in the US and I'm more scared of them than Canada's CRA (Canadian Revenue Agency). Red isn't going to be doing anything for a while....
