    Mountain Collective/Ikon/Epic 20/21.

This is good. I wasn't planning on buying until early-December. I'm still a bit confused if I should buy right away since I already have refundable lodging booked up for most trips next season. I'll book flights on Southwest once they are released in May. Since I lose nothing by waiting until...

Understood. Buying early has benefits. It's not worth the risk this time.

    Mountain Collective/Ikon/Epic 20/21.

I think MCP is sold late into December and the price increase is low. Are you buying the pass in advance this time? I have booked refundable lodging for a few trips next season but I will wait as long as I can to buy the Epic pass.

    2019-20 Season Recap

I barely broke even on my Mt. Rose and Ikon base pass. I blame it on Tony Crocker since he recommends skiing later in the season :stir:. Early season was pretty good in the Sierras this time. We should have done at least 4 days at Mt. Rose around Xmas time but I had made other warm-weather...

China Peak, CA, Mar. 19, 2020

Interesting that there were enough locals to track the powder on a weekday. Part of the reason as you said was the schools being closed. Now that I've had a good powder day at the low angle terrain at Squaw, I'd like to ski powder again. Would be nice to go to an area where there are fewer...

China Peak, CA, Mar. 19, 2020

Very interesting report Tony. I'm surprised there was a ski area left in California that you had not visited.

    Snowbird, March 10-11, 2020

Sad to read that even a place as reliable as north facing high elevation snowbird can have tough conditions to ski. While I was perusing the percentile chart, I noticed this is a very low probability event. http://bestsnow.net/utahhist.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;"...

How to post pictures from phone

The issue I may be having is the file size is too large (2-4 MB). Maybe I need to download first to my computer, resize them and then upload. Last time, I sent them using whatsapp to my spare phone number and used the compression from whatsapp. Still took some time to get it all in one place.

How to post pictures from phone

All, I need to post a couple of trip reports but I have been procrastinating as the current process I'm following to upload pictures is cumbersome. I use a Google Pixel Android phone. What is the recommended way to upload pictures here?

    Aussies tour the west.

That is certainly encouraging to read for me!

Brighton and Alta Feb 8-9 2020

As per recommendations in the other thread, we decided to head to Brighton on Saturday as LCC was closed until Noon. We made it to Brighton around 10:30 AM. We didn't get an early start as we arrived late on Friday night. The traffic was pretty bad as well. We parked in the park and ride lot...

What to ski at Alta on Feb 8th & 9th

I'm worried tomorrow could be really bad crowds and traffic-wise.

What to ski at Alta on Feb 8th & 9th

It looks like tomorrow will be a great day to ski. I'm guessing the groomers will not be busy for me because people will be chasing fresh snow off trail.

    Castle Mt., AB, Feb.27-28, 2019

I looked up this thread upon mention of Castle in the recent Grand Targhee thread. I checked the trail map. It looks like they have good combination of green, blue and black terrain. I also see that they have slopeside lodging as well. The base is at 4600'. Is rain common? Based on the snow...

VIDEO: Grand Targhee, WY - 1/18-20/2020

Thanks for the video. It looks like a great place to ski. However many of the chairs were full suggesting it wasn't as uncrowded as one would expect.

What to ski at Alta on Feb 8th & 9th

Thanks everyone for the advice. I will most likely sign up for the lesson. I thought lessons at Alta would be extremely expensive. But $80 for 2 hours is not bad. I plan to get my boots dialed in during my week long trip to Mt. Rose in late Feb. I will try ungroomed terrain after that. I'd...

    Ski Cooper, CO: 01/26/20

All of these resorts are not blacked out by the cheaper version of Ikon/Epic pass. So my guess is they will be extremely crowded during holiday periods. Keystone's greens are like the easy blues at Park City or Northstar. Lessons at Keystone were cheaper than most other Vail Resorts thought...

BTW, what are those structures (pipes, poles) in the pictures?

    Squaw Valley, CA 1/22/2020

Good to know. I don't know why I need to turn it on in the app. With epic, it was linked to my pass and easy to track. I have a 2-year-old phone so I won't do it if it consumes too much battery.

    Ski Cooper, CO: 01/26/20

I read somewhere this resort has very good beginner terrain. I think the elevation is > 10k so I gave up on planning a trip to ski here sometime. If I end up going to Vail or Beaver Creek for a week-long trip on a timeshare exchange, I will try to go here on one of the weekend days. Then again...
