Yes. My Model 3 is RWD. We will probably split the drive to Bend in two days. My winter driving experience is fairly limited. I found the drive from DIA to Beaver Creek quite tough when it was snowing. It looks like the beginner terrain is plentiful similar to Beaver Creek, though not at top...

Tony, I re-read some of the content on Mount Bachelor, and I think that might be an even better area for my family for Xmas (if we don't go to Europe this Xmas). You have noted that there are plenty of groomers at Bachelor with a consistent slope. That would be perfect for me. BTW, I was...

I can't do Whistler this year. Just gonna ski the local mountains (mainly Heavenly). And I won't be buying an epic pass for next y ear. Next year I may end up going to Europe for Xmas as I have family in England. Sun Valley will be included in Epic Pass. I will probably get the Epic pass again...

It's interesting that a place so difficult to reach is crowded. Are those crowds because of Presiden'ts day or Ikon pass? I've been dreaming of doing a road trip with Ikon for 4 weeks starting mid Jan in a few years and Revelstoke was high on my list due to it's big vertical. Are there groomed...

Yeah. I bought the epic pass and decided on get my money's worth by spending a lot of days at their most expensive location. I'll keep my eye on spring pass sale for targhee. They have some Homewood free days that I can use as well.

Beaver Creek is great.. that's where we went for Xmas. Wife got a back sprain on her 3rd or 4th day so she was not able to ski more. I lapped the Red Buffalo area a lot and did some lessons. That's how I improved my skill enough to ski the easy blues there. I did lessons on a gap of 3-4 days. I...

I agree with you regarding importance of lessons. We can probably go to Kirkwood instead of Northstar. Their beginner lessons are $89 instead of Northstar's $170. I will do some more research on which resorts in Tahoe offer continuing ski lessons. This year we can probably do another 6-8 days...

definitely not cat tracks. I like Northstar b/c of the long green runs that are not cat tracks. Tony, We are more constrained by what my wife can do. She has been on the bunny slope chair lifts only a few times and is still doing snow ploughs. We will go to Northstar for 3 more weekends...

It makes me feel sad to read that. I thought I had stumbled upon a ski area taht would be a good fit for a December holiday trip. What is your recommendation for a ski area for for beginners/intermediates who have not yet learned to ski powder? We will probably get good enough to ski easy blue...

Affordable, small, beginner friendly resort in Europe

Hello Everyone, I've never skied in Europe but next year we would like to go to Europe to ski. My sister is in England and a friend in Middle East would like to come as well. We are beginner/intermediate and we need a recommendation for a uncrowded, affordable ski resort where we can spend 2...

How much is a single ski day worth? - 2018-19 version

I spent the holiday black out period at Beaver Creek using the epic pass. The lift lines during the black out period were not as bad as Jan 2 to 5.

Favorite top 10 ski resorts list - ever

I read these top 10 lists for resorts to avoid. These resorts become popular and therefore crowded. My enjoyment of skiing is inversely correlated with crowds. Smaller areas are better for me like the Yosemite Badger pass.

this thread is not too enthusiastic on Pow Mow. I had high expectations of Pow Mow b/c of the following factors: - < 10% months with < 30" snow - lots of long green runs - low crowds I'm curious if anyone will recommend PowMow between Dec 20 to Jan 5 when the LCC areas are mobbed. I'll be...

Alterra (IKON pass) buys up Solitude, UT and Crystal, WA

I'd be curious to hear from the people who visit Solitude this season to tell us if Solitude still remains uncrowded. My guess is it will be a bit more crowded but not AltaBird crowded.
