Skiing those same aspects in Mineral yesterday, I bet it was fabulous. A little icing never hurt anyone.

Westbound and DEEP (or: Cold Smokey and the Bandit)

Yeah - It really is miserable to have fun skiing, photo document and share it with others. Just plain old horrible.

In case you were wondering. I was mounting up the 4s's with more reliable binders.

Depending on snow conditions, lets shoot for a week from today.

    Lambs Canyon UT 1-9-09

Um - someone else was taking pictures I'll see if I can find them. I'm sure you can picture 35 degree aspen and evergreen glades with a foot of fluff on top of the upside down snow. The FTO crew would like it very much I am sure. Marc lets get after it one of these mornings.

    Lambs Canyon UT 1-9-09

Toured up Lambs this morning. Crusty under 8 inches on south faces, well layered and bonded on north faces. Everything else in between. Good angled trees, well protected, great skiing. Good before work!

A repost of greg's TR. Three weeks skiing in UT and bootlegging brewSKI out of WY deserves a TR. It also deserves a theme song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xN8dP4CoFaw Premise: Salida moves out to SLC and joined the ranks of an illustrious online gear store located there. Meanwhile Grizzly...

Why am I not sick today?

I saw it coming. 35 of the last 40 days on the hill, guess I see em all coming. Today was the best yet. Tunneled all the way down silver fox three times in a row. Freaking nuts. Had to stop every half dozen turns to take a breath, unreal. Would have taken pictures, but it would have just...

    Snow Basin 1/3/09

Right indeed. Right over the line it was exceptional. Most seemed to be skiing south faces in No Name, which was the wrong aspect. We found skiing the main rib on the northerly side down to mid no name and then dropping OB 1/2 way down resulted in waist deep from no name opening to closing bell.

    Alta UT 1/04/2009

Dang was it fun yesterday. You can still get over to high notch from a wickedly high traverse on eddys, which begs the question why not open high notch. Guess they don't want john p q trying to huck the big fracture line below high notch. Yellow tail to Glory hole was probably the run of the...

Was at the basin today. Pics and story to follow. Moral of it is that it was sweet. Knee deep all day long, any where and everywhere. 5 runs down no name were freaking glorious.

Wolf Creek: 200 Inches and Counting!

OK so a PR on FTO. Not the first time or the last. That being said, I've probably skied wolf creek more than most around here, and it is a seriously snowy place. One of the biggest storms I have ever participated in happened a few years ago around Xmas at WC. Between WC and Silverton, they...

Truth. Dug two pits on patsey's yesterday, west facing, low elevation. Both were stable with rutschblock tests. The 'rain' layer is beginning to bond... quick edit: the most unstable layer appeared to be the depth hoar below the rain crust, large crystals...

Dang - It is obvious this argument will never be settled. Roger moved back east because he likes the variety of life more, and only needs 10 days of Wasatch pow to satiate his light and fluffy snow thirst for the year. The rest of the FTO crew likes skiing the light and fluffy every day, in...

    Telluride 12/26/08

An extra 800 or 1000 vert at the summit of silverton, versus the top of red mtn pass. Even if they got the same precip, they probably get 'more snow' (water content/fluff factor) by being higher and colder.

I'd take some 205s! I put some old solly race binders on the 4S so I can schralp main when the time comes.

Still a lot of hang fire in there. I wouldn't be surprised if they keep it closed until they get the upper portions to go.

So damn good the past week. It has been nuts out there. EBT to high t a half dozen times before getting over to supreme. Got so many good pictures yesterday. I can't explain how much fun it has been out there. More pictures to come when this visit is over. Holding out for a massive...
