    Big Sky, MT February 27-March 1, 2019

Sure seems like these mega-passes, along with faster lifts and the profusion of wider, rockered skis is resulting in a lot shorter powder days. At Alta and Snowbird in January this year, it was more like a powder run or two than powder days, even midweek/non-holiday (unless you have the intel...

    Great reports and pics, guys!

Crystal Mt., WA, Feb. 18-19, 2019

Sounds like my request on powder days about an hour after terrain is opened at Snowbird or Alta... ("They" being the hordes on boards and/or fat skis).

Mt Ashland, OR February 17, 2019

Looks like you about covered the spectrum on the highs and lows of sharing the mountain with snowboarders (my apologies in advance for any snowboarders who may read this).

Thanks for the report, and for adding the pics. An FYI re. Nature Valley products that I found to be a bit surprising given their name: if you look at the bottom of the Nutrition Facts label there is a caveat, "Partially Produced With Genetic Engineering". That may not bother you, but I thought...

    Powder Mtn 2/5/19

I haven't been to Powder Mountain in a few years. Thanks for the update. It seems that Utah skiing in general isn't what it was even a few years ago; too many skiers on fat skis taking fast lifts and tracking up the powder within about an hour of any new terrain being opened. I'm glad that...

Can you provide a link to your pugski pics? I'm not sure where to find them on the site.

    Alta, UT 1/10-24/2019 - 7 feet in 8 days

I was leery about going in January, too, but made the trek based on Evan Thayer of Open Snow. His few days to 2 week outlook has helped me time good powder weeks in SLC for a couple years now. The downside is that I’ve resorted to driving from LA, as airfare gets expensive for last minute bookings.

    SLC Mountain Collective Skiing 1/17-1/25/2019

Noted. Sorry for the hoops. I didn't realize a login was required with my Strava link (I'm surprised more of you don't use Strava; it's a great app for biking, hiking, swimming,etc.). I don't ski often enough to remember all the hoops required to post pics with captions in order on this forum...

Go to my Strava activities for captioned pictures. I plan to add reports for Thursday, 1/24 (Snowbird) and Friday, 1/25 (Snowbasin). https://strava.app.link/4wtL2caCIT"

Nice pictures and captions; thanks for taking the time to post them!

    Big Bear, Jan. 3, 2019

Baldy ruled in good ski years of yore, now Baldy isn't worth skiing, imo. Takes more natural snow than they ever seem to get anymore to make it decent.

    Fernie, B.C., Feb. 25, 2018

I wonder if he had any symptoms in the weeks before his heart attack. The guy that wrote the article I posted above was likewise in very good condition and exercised regularly. He did have symptoms, but only when exercising vigorously. Worth looking out for in our own bodies. Check out...

Kind of surprising that Bill suffered a deadly heart attack, given how active he was. I wonder if he had undetected blockage. That was the case with a very active cyclist whose unexpected blockage was discovered via a stress test. He had to get a 2nd opinion in order to have the test. See link...

Mt. Baldy, CA $150 unrestricted pass

You're thinking of the good old days when the dump got dumps. Baldy without a lot of fresh snow is a waste of time and P-tex.

Mammoth and Inyo Craters, May 27-28, 2018

Tony, I had a more general question about Mammoth Mountain. I realize that MM is a great place for spring skiing (although it's getting a little late this season). Last year I had 3 good Spring Skiing days in early May. My question is about MM for Winter conditions. I skied on Friday and...

Mt. Baldy, CA $150 unrestricted pass

I gave up on Baldy years ago. Seems either they have a rocky year, or the week of good conditions happens to coincide with a trip to SLC or elsewhere. Perhaps Baldy may be a casualty of global warming? Maybe I should change my username and avitar on this board...
