Bindings are never a problem, until they are. Glad you were able to ID the issue on-hill before a hard crash. My son had issues with brand new Look Pivot bindings earlier this year. Heal piece was basically defective and had to be replaced. Not good for a 2 month old binding that is explicitly...

The person who booked the seat (At Mustang anyway). Mustang does give deals, but they are pretty small and only at the last minute (say $200 or $400 per day discount), but only when you basically have to be there within a handful of days from the offer. So basically a good deal for Kelowna or...

It used to be higher on the snowmaking priority list when Heavenly used to have the pro mogul tour come to town (and broadcast on television) each year. No idea when that stopped being a thing for them. Sure looks very sad in its current state of coverage though.

No way Erie is giving much if any in the way of traditional lake effect. That lake does have a past history (rare number of years, but occasionally happens) of getting several feet of snow on top of the ice which in the right type of heavy wind then blows inland for nearly the equivalent of lake...

Thought I would put the current map in the thread as a potential low point of snow %'s in the western US. It is finally supposed to snow at least some (Colo), or pretty decently (tahoe) over the next couple of weeks. So it will be interesting to use this as a comparison to see how many water...

    Project 101: USA Road Trip

Humorous comment IMO on lift systems. Certainly an example where they are used to the local towns providing significant $$ toward the ski operators for capital projects vs lift ticket only funded lifts in the US by exclusively private operators. Certainly a little like our various governments in...

So basically a cross between a backcountry ski and a really long snowshoe. Never heard of them before. Perfect place and season for such winter tools though. Also perfect to get out there before the big weekend cold snap!

More town of Ned news on acquisition. Some humorous quotes by the "303" group that was supposed to be helping guide the town. https://coloradosun.com/2026/02/06/303-ski-nederland-eldora/ And in other news, 3 more snowmaking trails have opened (Wolf Tongue, Aplenhorn, Powderhorn). I know they...

    Monitoring Cardiac Health

Interestingly enough I'd never seen a cardiologist (nor been recommended to see one) until the actual heart attack. Probably don't need to think about it immediately since they removed the plaque and put in the stents. But I would agree that over time it'll be something I probably will need to...

Vail finally opened part of the back bowls. ~1100 acres or so. Going to be wet slop and re-frozen this weekend though in the warm temps until late next week when snow is finally in the forecast again. https://www.denverpost.com/2026/02/05/vail-back-bowls-open-2026/

Never been to a Wawa, but that phrase is so very Pennsylvania. No where else but PA(-ish) can you get a 'hoagie'.

Yes, but how did he get there? Chair 9 is closed; yet I see several tracks on that face. All patrollers maybe? Nope, they sure haven't. But they are talking about a new lift on the opposite mountain face from the t-bar. Though hard to tell if it will ever get built as it is in Phase 2 in the...

    Japan 2026

I'm curious based on that pic what % of snowboard vs skiers you are finding in Japan. (looking at Ryuoo trail map) I forget; Why exactly do so many Japanese ski areas list all trees as off limits/forbidden?

For reference, they explicitly make the snow on that lift to be extra wet/dense to meet the demands of the racer chasers that train on those couple of trails (tons of world cup racers train there in Oct/Nov for example). A bit of a 'user be warned' kind of scenario; especially when there has...

Well, some snow plus mostly consistently cold temps have certainly improved things somewhat. However, it is already Jan 31st and I still count 14 trail names that have snowmaking infrastructure that are still not open. I'll find out from my son later today if the snow guns are still running or...

    Northeastern U.S. Weather & Conditions

Interestingly I just heard yesterday that WP is skiing pretty poorly (from skiers there during this past week). Winter Park side is fairly limited to repetitive trails, Mary Jane side is now open but super rocky etc.. and not worth the damage, with Panorama and Eagle Wind still entirely closed...

My brother lives near Pittsburgh with Seven Springs as his local hill. Even they are reporting 99" so far with 29" in the past 7 days. Very Good conditions reported by my brother last Sun/Mon. Although I find it kinda funny that James is in Colo while reporting on eastern conditions.

    Project 101: USA Road Trip

At this point I would think Peter from Lift Blog would be a great resource as he has claimed to ride or at least visit/walk the line for every functioning lift in at least the US and Canada. That includes some non-ski area lifts too of course (state fairs, wineries, etc...). So i would expect...
