    Worst Dec in memory

Blue Mountain, an Intrawest resort in Collingwood,Ont, just posted on their website that they will be closed until the cold weather returns, seems that we don't even have enough of that crappy faux sneaux left.

Planning a ski trip...Calgary loop in February 06

during the last few years a few more motels have sprung up in Radium Hot Springs which would be about 30-45 mins. from Panorama and about 1 1/4-1 1/2hr from Kicking Horse. We are arriving at Panorama one day before we can get into our condo so we had to book one night at the Best Western in...

    Worst Dec in memory

Definitly the worst start in my memory (also 30 years plus ski experience) Woke up this morning to 12 deg C (55 deg. F). Even the 14 day forecast doesn't predict any below freezing temperatures. Good thing I already have my trip tp Panorama and Utah booked because it doesn't look like there will...

    Whistler? Inland? SLC?

I agree with all the comments about WB, the area is so big that you will not get bored in 5 days.

Western U.S. vs. Eastern U.S. Skiing vs. Europe Skiing

European ski resorts definitely were not well represented at the Toronto show. I briefly considered a Europe trip this winter until I found out that airfare from Toronto to Europe is twice the price of airfare from Buffalo to SLC. Living at least an 8 hour drive from the closest ski resort in...

    UT is getting closer!

I'm constantly amazed by all the things I'm learning from you guys. Good news about your house TP. I am negotiating with my wife to extend our Park City trip next year. If it works out we will be getting a hotel in SLC so that we can ski some of the LCC and BCC areas.

    Portes du Soleil

Can anyone give me any information about Portes du Soleil? I have an opportunity to go at the end of Feb/beginning of March 2007. How reliable is the snow at this time of year? Is the ski area as good as the maps make it look? Will I need a car, or is public transportation between the ski...

    skiers edge

skiers edge was at the ski show in Toronto last year. I'm assuming that they'll be there again this year. It sounds like I'll really need to get in shape before I ever head out to Utah and run into some of you guys...

    skiers edge

thanks, Tirolerpete. Your feedback was very helpful. I'm going to wait until the ski show in Toronto (mid october) before buying. Maybe they'll have show specials or even show demos at a decent price there.

    skiers edge

I can only manage to get in 12-15 days of skiing per year so my fitness level is never what it should be. I especially noticed this last Feb. when I took the steep skiing clinic with Extremely Canadian in Whistler. I have been considering to buy a Skiers Edge exercise machine. Compared to other...

At what point should I look into buying skis?

when you do decide to buy skis, Corbetts in Oakville puts their entire inventory at 50% off sometime towards the of March. IMO it's the only way to buy ski equipment.

    whistler - jan 21-28

I'm headed to Whisler for the first time on Feb. 13-16. After reading Tony Crocker's report on his experience with Extremely Canadian Steep skiing clinic and because I'll be by myself at Whistler I decided to sign up for the clinic on Feb. 13-14. Hope I won't be in over my head as I only have...

Family Skiing in Eastern Canada - US.

We were at Tremblant Feb.20-26 and our girls ages 10 &11 (fourth time on skis) had a blast. My wife, a solid intermediate skier, fell in love the glades beside The Edge chair lift. Tremblant might not have an abundance of real expert terrain but runs like Emotion and Haute Tension keep things...

    Panorama, BC

I was at Panorama Feb.10-15. At that time the groomers were frozen granular and getting icier everyday. Taynton Bowl was still open and had the only decent snow on the whole mountain. It had nice bumps with soft tracked snow. The bottom third, when Heli-High and Devil's Drop converged into...
