    Powder Mountain !!!!!!!!!!!!

While Admin is probably quite correct, my experience (this is my first full winter in UT) so far has not impressed me unduly with UT drivers. A run up from Provo on I-15 in a few inches of snow a couple of Saturdays ago left me underwhelmed with local drivers. Too many vehicles, with their...

    Powder Skis/Reverse Camber Skis

I can't address the "reverse camber" issue having no experience with it, but I can attest to the value of reduced weight and my own powder/crud experience. Based on recommendations by Marc_C and Admin I went for Black Diamond Verdicts (wood core) in the 170cm length. I also mounted Silvretta...

    SLC crowd avoidance after Christmas

My Son, Daughter, her boyfriend, and I went up to Snowbird today (12/26). It was gray, cold, blowing snow, and very well covered. We didn't go near the Tram, but skied the Gad lifts, the Peruvian lift, and went through the tunnel into Mineral Basin where we skied both lifts a number of times...

    The Christmas haul

Which "adventure" are you lined up for; the Wasatch or Greenland? Sounds fantastic in either case?

    Alta, UT 12/21/07

That's what I am counting on! :D I look forward to spending some slope time with my oldest son who lives in San Diego. If we get a powder day, it would just be a bonus on top of seeing him enjoy our mountains. The first time I skied UT was in the winter of 99/00 and that was with my son...

Great Stuff! Couldn't get out. With company coming in on Sunday (TP Jr. and wife) I had to make a major deposit into the "spousal collateral" account

    Alta, UT 12/19/07

I headed up to LCC around 09:30 this morning. Flipped a coin on the way up and decided on Snowbird. Mother Nature had blessed the Wasatch with some exceptionally fluffy snow. I parked at MidGad and did a couple of warm-up runs to get the legs working. I then worked my way over to the Tram...

    Alta/Snowbird, UT 12/15-16/07

I missed Saturday to build some "spousal collateral" also (I like that term!). On the other hand, Sunday was beautiful. As a lazy retiree, I only got up to Snowbird around 11 AM. I went right over into Mineral Basin. While it was very tracked out in most places, the snow was pretty soft...

    Taos lifts snowboarding ban

I don't know who said it originally, but as always: "Money talks, nobody walks (or just skis in this case)." I personally don't have an opinion one way or the other, but considering the increasing percentage of "riders" out there I think this type of change is pretty much an economic...

    Alta, UT 12/9/07

Got up there around 10:30 AM today. The temperature was somewhere in the low 20's and there were periods of snow squalls. The parking lot was full so I ended up parking on the road up near Rustlerand then took the surface lift to Collins. The Collins lift was pretty busy, but I got up top...

    36 Hours of Keystone 11/30-12/1/07

Not getting hurt in the dark is probably a wise decision. Out of control skiers/riders are bad enough. "TIRED and out of control" skiers and riders (in the dark) is likely even worse. There are times when discretion is the better part of valor. NIce try!

    Current storm 11-30-07

I was up at Snowbird this afternoon (opening day) and I had to quit around 2PM. It was blowing hard, snowing hard, and visibility was getting very low.

SLC - stay in Sandy or Downtown?

As long as it isn't "Chuck - up."

SLC - stay in Sandy or Downtown?

If you don't mind not drinking alcohol and are truly hungry, Chuck-O-Rama (sp?) is a tasty belly buster. As "Seniors" (over 60) my wife and I pay $9.95 for dinner!

Pics from the Canyons, PC, DV and the back of Brighton

I know what you mean n 1vek. That is why I moved here last spring. While conditions to date have been poor, the odds are greatly in my favor that they will improve significantly very soo. I now live 16.1 miles from the front door of the Snowbird Tram!

Park City Mountain Resort, UT - 11/23/07 (opening day)

Nice top to bottom video. Other than the trail, it sure looks brown!

    Keystone next week, anyone?

Some people will use any reason at all to play in the snow. But then, I understand that serious journalism often requires sacrifices (like missing your "day job") no doubt.

    Keystone next week, anyone?

Read the stuff in the links. Sounds like a lot of fun. Who does the recruiting for the FTO "team?"
