    100 Days!

\:D/ Went up to Alta late morning today. It was day #100 for the season. \:D/ While the sky was a bit overcast, the temps were warm enough to soften all the groomed trails, and some of the less groomed areas that usually don't get too sun impacted.

    Alta, UT 4/11/2010

Alta snow report for tonight: "Tonight we are expecting 4-8 inches of snow! Temperatures near 22 degrees F. Tomorrow 3-6" of snow." \:D/ I'm hoping for the higher totals [-o<

It was a good time to "get out of Dodge" Ira. I met Bobby D and Admin at GMD then went out to do a run myself. Same results...I packed up and went home. Maybe the storm tomorrow will dress things up a bit. I certainly hope so.

Video: How *not* to ride the Alta rope tow

I suppose he will not be passing on his "transfer tow technique" to any of his progeny.

^^^^ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ ^^^^^ My friends and I must have followed in your tracks (actually, a little to the left and right of those tracks) a bit later in the day. It looks like there is more to come in the next couple of days  !

    Out west for 11 days.

Great report! Actually, trips like yours are a fantasy that most skiers rarely get to act out. Your "Mall" picture looks like you were standing outside "Ski-N-See" in Sandy, UT. My wife and I have traveled to and through all 50 states at various times. If you didn't know where you actually...

    Park City Mountain Resort, 3/5/2010

I don't think there will be a problem at Alta for tomorrow Admin. It became "partly cloudy" for about an hour just befor closing. There was some really great powder in all the usual spots today!

    late winter!!

Glad you guys are finally getting some of the goodies. It is really frustrating to see snow in all the wrong places. We are down quite a bit from last season here in the Wasatch also, but the skiing has still been good. Visitors from the east wonder what we are whining about as they carve...

Avy death at Silver Fork/ Solitude

I'm not clear on this. Was the victim in-bounds or in the back country? I now understand why Alta has been so slow to open so many areas.

Kingslug on the way!!! Utah that is.

Kingslug has been skiing with with me and another friend who also came west from LI on Sunday. As Admin said, he has been giggling like a schoolgirl as those face shots turn him into a merry snowman. Monday and Tuesday delivered successive dumps of fresh powder. Alta has consistently...

Kingslug on the way!!! Utah that is.

I tried to go up LCC at around 10:15 AM. Security was turning 2wd vehicles around. It took me about 20 minutes to get less than two miles up the canyon. Then, it all stopped moving. Every 5 minutes or so we did a few yards in first gear and stopped again. It was snowing hard from 5400' up...

    Skiing around Utah 1/9-17/2010

Compared to conditions for the last week or so, today was definitely sweet at Alta. While last night's snow totals were very modest, it did continue to snow most of the afternoon, and the "usual" spots had some excellent coverage. In fact, there were moments when I couldn't hear my skis...

    Super Pass available to all

There are "locals" who routinely take the bus; but after bumming rides, dragging gear from car to bus (not to mention waiting around in bad weather) I bought an AWD vehicle about half-way into my first ski season and the Sheriff just waves my little white Subie straight through.

    Super Pass available to all

Add that Super Pass to the fare deals offerred by Jet Blue from Jan 11 - Mar 13. Eg. JFK to SLC (either way) $99 - $109.

    Alta, UT 12/31/09

Left the house late and still had traffic up the canyon road at around 10:30 AM. They wouldn't let me into the Wildcat lot so I parked on the road shoulder (as directed) just a few cars up the road from the Wildcat entrance. I was stunned at the number of people waiting for the Collins lift...

    Snowbird, UT 11/21/09

We must have crossed paths in the subway when I used to commute to work in Manhattan! The white stuff here in the Wasatch can have that kind of effect on a person :-D

    Snowbird, UT 11/21/09

I realize it was hyperbole, but the remarks about the "great snow in Vermont" and the "light crowd at Hunter" reminded me why I decided to cash it all in back east and move to UT. Regardless, I did enjoy the time I spent lapping Gadzoom on Friday, and I was glad that I was there to begin my...
