    Alta, UT 11/25/18-1/8/19 - A Photo Timeline

Before you get so full of yourself (again), I saw it with my own eyes. Did you? And you avoid answering, how many days have you skied Alta (or even set foot in the state of Utah) this season?

    Alta, UT 11/25/18-1/8/19 - A Photo Timeline

To reiterate my point from my last post in this thread, it doesn't matter to you and your spreadsheets. Two feet of additional base on opening day sure as hell matters to me . You're off course correct, those two extra feet of base did absolutely nothing to improve the early skiing. :roll...

    Alta, UT 11/25/18-1/8/19 - A Photo Timeline

The part that you're missing is that they really don't care. Besides that, much (most?) of the acreage is behind control gates, thus the figure would fluctuate drastically by day, or even by hour. Keystone's Schoolmarm is hardly in an avalanche zone. So, in your mind a couple of feet of snow...

    Alta, UT 11/25/18-1/8/19 - A Photo Timeline

The only reference to trail count in Alta's snow report, and thus in the consolidator sites as well, is how many runs were groomed -- whether or not those runs are seldom if ever groomed. Therefore, as with most things at Alta trail count is useless information, as Alta isn't about "trails."...

    Alta, UT 11/25/18-1/8/19 - A Photo Timeline

After logging 39 ski days thus far (38 at Alta - I spent one day pre-Christmas at Powder Mountain) and nearly a half million vertical feet, it's high time I put up an early season recap. I'm taking a day off the slopes, so why not today? Unlike 2017/2018 we had a tremendous start to the season...

    Alta UT 11/23-24/2018

Days 1-2 for Alta, days 1-2 for me. Alta opened on Friday with 9" of new snow overnight and top-to-bottom skiing in the "Mambo Corridor" as the resort called it. That meant Mambo/Meadow/Corkscrew, but there were some other goodies available, including Aggie's Alley, the whole WIldcat Ridge from...

VIDEO: Alta Ski Area "Welcome to Winter" 2018-19

Yup, like every year we seem to be going into this season with a facet layer. There's snowmaking on blue groomers off every lift except Supreme. I suspect that we'll be starting off with: Mambo, Meadow, Corkscrew and Nina's Curve off Collins; Devil's Elbow off Sugarloaf; and Magic Mile and...

It's actually much better higher up, but I only shot in the base area. That said, our collective fingers are crossed for this week's forecast.

Alta (UT) in Spring (2018)(4K video)

Not permitted in the ski area - I only flew once terrain was closed and only because it was the last day. And no 80 days this season.

Yeah, I know -- I've been bad. That's set to change shortly. Here's a video wrap-up of Alta from the first closing weekend April 14, through the very final day May 6: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZeYfiJLOBo

    Alta/Snowbird, UT 12/16-17/2017

<soapbox> I do not care for the way they do terrain openings at Snowbird. In fact, I've been hit from behind during the frenzy following a Road to Provo rope drop at Snowbird. It's uncontrolled chaos with a couple of hundred people all dropping into the same terrain at the very same time. I much...

I most certainly appreciate the feedback, and I'll readily admit that it's tough to weed out footage. Thank you. Most of my vids have been anywhere from 4-12 minutes each. I thought about splitting this one in 3, and perhaps I should have.
