What Is An Industrial Ski Resort -- And Is It Necessarily Bad?

My local mountain Blue Mtn in Ontario would likely be an industrial mountain. After skiing there, anywhere in Colorado seems much better.

    Banff/Lake Louise late February?

I woke up at Lake Louise one January in 2019 or 2020 to -46c. Went to LL to ski and they never opened that day. High temp never climbed above -33c. We ended up going for a hike near the lake and discovered sound propagation is much further in extreme cold.

    Banff/Lake Louise late February?

I have skied Lake Louise nearly every January for the last 8 years. My experience has been, surface preservation mid winter is unparalleled. Winter is cold in Banff, sun angles are low. Even in very low tide last winter, surface conditions were generally good. The issue is rocks. I...

Great Lakes: Freezes, Lake Effect, and Cooling

The other great lakes can also do the same but for a shorter window in the spring. When we get unseasonably warm temps (80’s F) in late April, temps can be 30 F cooler near lake Ontario. Once the lake warms up, this effect diminishes dramatically.

    Xeriscape In Desert Climates

The landlocked places such as Phoenix and Las Vegas are the most likely to be impacted when the Colorado river runs out of water. Coastal locations can pivot to very expensive, but feasible, desalination.

    South America 2025

Looks like MCP, is going to try to purchase all of the Santiago areas along with Pillán (Villarrica) and Volcán Osorno further south. If all 4 Santiago areas are a single resort under a single pass, that would make for a very sizeable resort with 3 separate base villages...

    Adventures in Car Rentals

Thats good, hopefully the prices will start to come down. Right now for reasons that I can no longer understand, the USA is the most expensive place I find to travel. Switzerland was even less expensive, when I was there last year.

I did some additional searching and it appears most major Brazil schools are back in session by July 28. My first day skiing would be July 27. The best that I can tell, my dates would be after the school holidays.

    Ski-Air Travel

Having more recently qualified for the elite status with Air Canada, I can attest to a significant step up with customer service once hitting the 25k threshold. i wonder if these ratings reflect reviews by the frequent flyer elites and not the average ticket holder.

I pay $500 per year for a premium credit card that gives me better service from the airline. This allows for priority checkin, priority phone, more bags, lounge access, eupgrades. To me, better service at the airport and on the phone when needed, carries more of a priority than a larger seat.

If a westerner moved to New England....

Its all about expectations. One can certainly have fun and a very enjoyable experience on smaller mountains with less snow.
