What is your favorite Ski Book?

Oh, Patrick, have you read "Not without Peril" it's a book about deaths on Mt. Washington. Interesting to find more hypothermic deaths in the summer than in the winter. People underestimate the severity of the weather more in the summer months.

Ski, snowboard, telemark or other ?

Come to the Dark Side   Free the heel and the mind will follow. I did randonee for a season before I converted. Randonee really is French for can't tele :D but the boots were so uncomfortable on the uphill I knew I wouldn't last long. I ditched the Scarpa Lasers for a...

    date of first opening...

With the slow season most eastern resorts had last year, I'd be shocked to see anyof them open too soon. It's just not financially justifiable to spend lots of cash on making snow, then have the weather wipe it all out a week later.

your kind of skiing / boarding / tele-ing

A friend of mine has a pair of "bar skis" They're skis that have a hinge near the top of the binding so you can fold them up, to step up to the bar =D> They usually generate a round of applause from the apres ski crowd :D

Thanks guys!! I was only in the Grand Montets for one day last year --on my way to Zermatt. Well, ok, I took the long way to Zermatt :D :D I skied the lifts and eventually bought a top ticket for 5 bucks. I skied an off piste run next to, and partially through, the glacier. I stayed on the...

Some questions for our fearless leader

Way to go Guido! Nice to have the board back up :D This board is set up similiar to the hiking board I belong to. I think you'll like how easy things are to set up and manage! I hope we get more members as ski season approaches. A couple of quick questions: Could we have a section where we...

Ok, I'll be brave and go first :) I'm looking at a trip to Chamonix this March. I skied The Grand Montets last year and am hungry for more! I'm planning on doing the Vallee Blanche, guided. I'm looking for some advice on what else I should consider. My pass will include the whole area, 17...
