The Pitfalls of Gen AI (Skiing-Related)

I'm a Luddite by nature so it's no surprise that I find AI horrifying. I despair for the human race.

    Schweitzer, ID: 03/03/21

Thanks @jamesdeluxe . I’ve not been to Schweitzer or any other interior north west US ski hills. I didn’t even know it had lake views. I’d love to check the area out one day….

    Oz/NZ 2025

It would have been nice to get a few days on skis down south given it has been a decent season for the Oz mountains but I’ve had to stay close to home as I’m assisting my dad to get to medical appointments temporarily. That winds up very soon. I took my lad and his girlfriend to do the last...

    U.S. Presidency #47

Very. But media can’t make dumb or insensitive comments that might upset the leadership without being silenced. 1984 here we are.

    Oz/NZ 2025

@ChrisC let me know when you’ll be heading to this portion of the globe. I’ll try to meet you for some shared chairs. I’m committed to a Europe hiking trip next September though. October at Ruapehu sounds good.

    Valdez, Alaska: April 14-19, 2024

Just reading this report again. Fantastic pics of the town and terrain. You men are also photogenic specimens too. Good looking blokes with big genuine smiles that have clearly not been put on for the camera. Isn’t it a good feeling when you have genuine fun?

    Ski Area Count 2023-2025 Updates

I think I can realistically add 8 new destinations this coming winter. That will get me to 90. I’m going to take a wild guess that may be very inaccurate but I’m tipping there wouldn’t be too many life long Brisbane residents with 90 ski hills on their resume. *It doesn’t matter that they are...

    PeakRankings: Trips

Interesting talk about altitude sickness. I’ve only stayed as high as Snowmass but have been there a few times. I’ve never had one hint of it. Nor has any of my family. And we live at sea level. We’ve always had time in SLC prior though.

Where are you going this season (25/26)?

I’ll have a car and will ski at Shiga Kogen and Myoko/Madarao areas.

Where are you going this season (25/26)?

They look interesting but are generally low elevation. No issue in a ‘normal winter’ but not ideal in a warm winter.

Where are you going this season (25/26)?

@snowave @jimk You people that reside close to mountains and proper winter are living a fantastic dream. Don’t take it for granted! I’ll be in Japan (skiing Nagano area) for 12 days at the end of January/start of February and skiing in Europe (likely France given my wife’s preferences) in late...

Hiking and MTB in the Dolomites: September 2025

Lack of green veg. Too much ham and cheese and bread.

    Banff/Lake Louise late February?

https://banfftours.com/activities/johnston-canyon/ If you get a spare couple of hours off skis that is well worth doing in my opinion.

Hiking and MTB in the Dolomites: September 2025

Food looks lovely - particularly the venison. And those beans would be in grave danger if I was in attendance.

Hiking and MTB in the Dolomites: September 2025

I have a difficult time in Europe. My brain struggles that there is no green on that schnitzel plate.
