tl/dr there's 3 ways for a ski to turn (edging, pressuring, and steering) but beginners (make a pizza w tips together tails apart), terminal intermediates, and folks who tend to choose runs where you ski ON the snow instead of IN the snow only practice edging. Edging: since skis are narrower at...

Thanks for the report. You're describing a zipline which anybody can do. A zipperline is a primo mogul run ridden at speed, which nobody on here but me can do...

When I telemark in velvety slush it comes down on top of my head the whole way down. For powder, I recall the last or second to last season of Mammoth's old Chair 5 the snow piled up real deep under the lift and you could spray the liftriders if you weren't careful...

VIDEO: Deer Valley, UT camping & skiing - March 2019

Okay, hmmm, lessee. I'd like to point out that the other Grand Adventure vids I've watched didn't suck LOL. BTW are the Deer Valley skiers accustomed to gourmet dining? They're putting their wet gloves and sweaty helmets right next to their food while they eat, cracks me up everywhere every time.

Thanks for the Latimes article, Mr. Cojean also hosted a bonfire making the Mt. Baldy evening/night almost as festive as a powder morning. BTW 95% of the cars were ahead of mine, so even folks who were early and wanted to be home by lunchtime were part of it.

Mt. Baldy, CA, Feb. 6-7, 2019

I went yesterday, quit skiing at 1:55. Everybody was stranded in their cars at Manker Flats. Cars didn't start inching forward until 9. So I shoulda got home by 3 or 4 and instead it was after midnight. Tony, here's that Kriechmayr Hahnenkamm highlight I mentioned on the chair...

FWIW the argument that "seeing is believing" is an argument in Tony's favor. He seems to be wondering why they can't produce a snow report that faraway people can read, and realize how good it is. Then I guess there's the "they don't care" which usually means one or the other of a crappy...

Yikes, I dunno, pretty sure all the snow I was spraying around was from Ullr. They have a snowgun just above/behind the bottom of 2 but I can't remember if those ones on skiers right of mid-Skyline are still there. What's new? Signs, signs. Everywhere there's signs.

Garry skied Baldy today, guess he knew to get the pass. It was very good, Skyline prolly similar to Snow Summit, I liked Robin's best for the good snow and quick turns.

I'd go to Loveland. Unrelated... I think people were actually taught this. Would it make a difference if spoken instead of written?

How much is ski parking space worth?

Thanks! For those interested in the executive summary, the article seems to indicate that EMSC has never hollered "Dropping!" in the ski context (where it means "Gang way, I'm about to descend!"). At least for now, the fee went away (not went lower).

How much is ski parking space worth?

The Brownie lot is fine, if/when they run the shuttles correctly. But these are insular mountain folk who have no clue about customer service, so once in awhile there will be problems. One of my days last season I broke a snowboard binding so I had to go back to grab my tele gear. The first 4...

How much is ski parking space worth?

Re the OP, getting more skiers in less cars is definitely the way to go and I support that. The counterpoint of course is ski areas with large parking lots (almost always on public land), where the dividing line between pay parking and free parking is completely arbitrary ("Let's rope off the...
