Great that you got such nice winter conditions in early April. Good to see that your daughter is skiing so well. You must have gotten her started young.

    Your thoughts on Telluride?

Snowave, Thanks for the report. Nice pics. Sorry about your injury. At least it's the end of the season. I fractured my hip socket in a road bike accident in December, 2015, missing the whole ski season. That's also a bummer re. Telluride dropping off the MC list. I didn't see that. I went...

"exclusive, socially conscious community"... Isn't that a little oxymoronic?

    Upcoming SLC Trip

I'm driving solo to SLC from Los Angeles tomorrow, Friday, February 23rd. I have the Mountain Collective Pass and plan to ski Alta, Snowbird, and Snowbasin. I would like to add Telluride, although lodging there seems rather expensive. Jackson Hole is another possible add-on. I would like to ski...

    Stowe and Sugarbush pres weekend

Thanks for the report. I haven't seen many on the Western Forum lately (at least not from SLC). How fast do those dogs pull?

    Your thoughts on Telluride?

Chris thanks for your detailed post. Lots of useful information there. I was intrigued by photos of Telluride even before I started skiing. I haven't made it there yet, but it's definiitely on my list.

Ikon pass to rival Vail's Epic pass...

From an interview at OnTheSnow.com: "The Mountain Collective will continue on." No mention of details. Link to article: https://www.onthesnow.com/news/a/630942/alterra-announces-new-23-resort-ikon-pass

Aussies on a Mountain Collective road trip.

Thanks for the post and the pics (this board is starved for reports lately). Nice you were able to get decent snow this season.

Probably my fault. I deleted the YouTube link to save space on my post. I'm guessing that created problems.

    Too cold

I was skiing up at Old Forge, NY back in the late 70's on a cold morning. I had taken one trip up the lift when someone on the mountain noticed early signs of frostbite on my face. I don't think I skied much that day. Have never been in any weather nearly that cold since moving to the West.

I'm not an RVer, but I did watch a couple of your videos and found them informative and nicely done. BYW, when I tried to preview my post using Chrome, I got an error: "This page isn’t working Chrome detected unusual code on this page and blocked it to protect your personal information (for...

    Western Weather 2017-18 and Later

And nice work on your part, Tony, for an early heads up that a change in plans may need to be considered. This board is valuable! Now, please bring back some normal Little Cottonwood Canyons winter conditions in time for my February, 2018 trip!

Any Skiing Tips for the Not-So-Young?

He hasn't engaged in the other dangerous activities for awhile. He still goes on extended backpacking trips with friends, with some peak-bagging, but none of the exposed, risky climbs. He plans to do more traveling, but seems content to hibernate between trips. I think his concern with skiing is...

Question on Mammoth Mountain Spring Conditions

Since the groomers were firm in the mornings despite above freezing overnight temps, I would guess that they salted at night. The only groomers I saw in action during the day were pushing/shaping snow on the far side of Lift #5 in preparation for an upcoming industry event that will feature a...

Question on Mammoth Mountain Spring Conditions

Upper mountain frontside is all open. I'm not sure about the salting; how would I tell? As a point of reference, Stump Alley was in good shape when I headed down at 3 PM today.

Question on Mammoth Mountain Spring Conditions

Thanks for the detailed response, Tony. I skied yesterday and today, and plan to ski tomorrow. Good spring conditions, not slushy. Not a lot of lifts running; certainly enough for the small crowds, but limited terrain. Well worth the trip for me, especially since my lift tickets were covered by...

Question on Mammoth Mountain Spring Conditions

Sounds more like a Snowbird reference. Mammoth still has reasonable number of lifts running, and weekday crowds are much lower than weekend crowds (at least when there isn't a big powder dump).
