Almost Heaven--Canaan Valley, WV 12 Feb

I bet the trees are tight and filled in. Doesn't look like they have been cleaned up for glade skiing, and in WV, they probably don't ski in the woods in West "By God" Virginia much anyway.

    Revelstoke, B.C. Jan 24 & 28, 2010, pics added

Revelstoke looks pretty awesome. I'd love to get there some day. I've gotta get back to B.C. I must say, B.C. has some of the most awesome mountains and potentially excellent snow. Couldn't pull off an unplanned trip there, so that makes getting there with fresh snow hit or miss.

Sun Valley, ID 2/4/10 + Snow Kiting Camas Prairie

Sun Valley looks exactly as it was when I was there...low snow, but still skied well. Doubtful I'd go back, but glad I got to check it out.

    New storm on the way

Blue is probably a better bet. They are in target for 6-10" Elk is 3-5" Camelback is weak, but they are in the 4-8" zone If you can get to any of these places tomorrow, they should be great with any fresh snow. Please post a report.

    New storm on the way

Blue or Elk for Weds would be ideal we are on the fringe. Yesterday we were in the Warning Area, but now we are not :-( I'll be happy with 3"...it will make my trails skiable again. They are skiable in sections, but I cannot complete a loop without bare areas...there are even some wet areas...

    Snowbird 2/7/10

We got an early start and were out on the Gadzoom lift just as it started loading at 9. The snow was definitely stiffer than yesterday. We sampled a number of lines in the Gad Area. Noodled through the woods and dropped into some tight lines. My knee was not feeling so great, but I pushed on...

    Big Cottonwood Recommendations

I do not consider Solitude a "must ski". In fact, most years, I don't even get there. Never really loved the place for a variety of reasons. If you don't get any new snow while you are here, I would just skip it. I would rather ski at The Canyons. Nice tree skiing there and you won't spend half...

    Big Cottonwood Recommendations

Most of it, but as I said, if you go way out, some of the folds face more north and offer better snow. This shows on that topo map. The snow in the trees is also better as it is shaded by the trees.

    Big Cottonwood Recommendations

If you don't find anyone to ski with you at Solitude, my advice is to go to Honeycomb canyon and traverse out as far as you can to find the best snow. The further you go, the more vertical you will get. Since it is supposed to be mostly sunny for next week, if there is no new snow, traverse to...

    Powder Mountain 2/4/10

That sux Jonathan, and to make it worse, it will probably snow a lot back in the east while you are in Utah. There is chatter from the mets about a big storm brewing for next week back home. Thankfully, I'll be home by then and hopefully my knee will get a few days of rest before I hit the...

    Powder Mountain 2/5/10

Not as good as yesterday, but better than anything else. Weather sucked. Knee hurts. But still skied untracked snow in Cobabe 5 days after the last storm...priceless http://harvey44.blogspot.com/2010/01/ut ... -2010.html If you see me at Alta tomorrow, I may be a hurtin unit, yet I will keep...

    Powder Mountain 2/4/10

Isn't Utahskiweather.com tourist info? Would make sense if inflated to bring people to the resorts. I'm not holding my breath, but would be happy for even a few inches to freshen things up a bit. My friends said that Alta was beat up and was like eastern skiing yesterday. They wished they went...

    Snowbird 2/3/10

This year I am having a lot of pain in my right patella and a right side uphill side step is very taxing and painful. I don't think it is really a big hike, but it was hard for me with the pain I was in. I would prefer the other direction (like the Baldy hike). Backside hike was also brutal on...

    Powder Mountain 2/4/10

I think Powmow is a must visit place. It is very different than the other SLC resorts. It is very laid back, low key, uncrowded and it is friggin huge. The mountains are rounder and less steep on average than the LCC resorts, but after hard charging at Alta, Snowbird and Solitude, the...
