    Beer thread

The craft beer scene in Europe has grown exponentially in the last five years. I’ve had some good ones. This is a ‘smoked IPA’ and is very good. The little brewery gave me a souvenir glass too.

We are not beach people either. This is very much a novelty for us. I had not heard the term ‘tactical chunder’ but I know a few blokes who adopted that method in the late 1980s. Next time I see them I am going to teach them the term.

I went on a fishing charter with Yvonne Cawley once. I out fished her. 😎

I thought you were poking fun at my lack of photography skills until I got the joke. The rain in the mountains will finish late today so we’ll head back that way on the way back to Milan Malpensa.

It’s a nice walk up to the village of Eze. About 1300 feet above sea level. Quite hard work in the warm weather. We’re staying in the port area of Nice. I had no idea the Monaco Grand Prix was this weekend. I’m surprised we found accommodation so cheaply. Self contained for approx $110USD per...

We have no interest in tennis. I don’t know why really. Australia has punched above its weight in tennis over the years.

    Misconceptions Euros have about America

I’m going to make the observation that the firsttracks forum members are not representative of the average American (whatever an average American is). From what I can tell you are not an average American @jimk But I agree the stereotypes are way too generalised and unnecessarily nasty.

To avoid incoming Alps rain we have moved south to Gorges du Verdon. The lavender is just starting to bloom. We rented a peddle boat on the Verdon Gorge. Went for a walk too. It’s lovely scenery. The view from our $90usd a night hotel room was nice. We had the best dinner of...

Thanks. I was aware of the project but didn’t know any details. I doubt it will have any direct bearing on my travel plans or everyday life.

    Early Season Alps Destinations

I skied that week in the Zillertal valley in Austria a number of years ago. I was amazed at the coverage given they hadn’t had much natural snow to that point. We got lucky with snow during that week too. I would choose an area that offers some tree cover as well as alpine.

We went for the obligatory ride to Aiguille du Midi. There is a fellow on the Oz ski forum that has climbed to the top of Mont Blanc and skied down. I’m not certain of the lines he took. Has anyone here skied above the Aiguille du Midi point? After some standout weather some instability is on...

    Europe 2025/26

When I skied there a couple of years ago the derelict remains of the bottom station were still proudly in place. Nothing had happened in 5 years.

We went for a walk up to Aiguilette Des Houches yesterday. About 3200 feet up. The views were stunning. As is often the case pics don’t do them justice. Unfortunately there was a bit of haze so it wasn’t 100 percent perfect. Close though. ^About a third of the way up overlooking Les Houches...

We had always intended to go to Cham because Kylie hasn’t stayed here so we took the opportunity come while the weather forecast was sunny. How that for a view for about $70USD per night?
