I don’t wear one when skiing alone but I’ll only ski areas that I can scope out completely with my own eyes or routes that I have skied prior with a guide. And it’s safe to say that generally I would ski less pitchy terrain than you. For a gaper like me a guide is huge piece of mind and great value.

Do you ski with an Avi kit when skiing fresh snow by yourself? Not much point really I guess.

I just looked at this. $1569 for a Snowbird only pass and $2918 for Altabird. If I was like Jim and could access Snowbird easily and on weekdays which would result in over 20 ski days across the season I’d buy the Snowbird pass without thinking. Pricy but still stellar value for that hill...

Has anyone driven the A8 motorway between the French Riviera to Genoa? Perhaps the most impressive road from an engineering perspective I’ve seen. It’s all huge bridges and tunnels with virtually no road section on flat land. It must have cost a bomb.

The craft beer scene in Europe has grown exponentially in the last five years. I’ve had some good ones. This is a ‘smoked IPA’ and is very good. The little brewery gave me a souvenir glass too.
