People on the ground in Tirol (and Livigno if that’s not Tirol) from the Aussie forum suggesting things are sketchy because of a weak layer despite ‘level 2’ avi rating. Very easy to trigger small slides apparently.

And that’s what I like about collecting beer ‘glasses’. Memories are relived each time one comes out of the cupboard.

I like the ‘Sample the Sierra’ glass. I think I might have had the Trail Builder quite a few years ago. I’ll be checking out the Japanese beer scene soon. I’ll report back if there’s anything more exciting than Asahi happening. (Not that Asahi is too shabby).

I will believe this when I see it. I'm a pessimist by nature and I hold weather forecasts more than three days out in very low regard. That said it is typical that the area in general gets regular snow this time of year.

The below from an Aussie that has lived in Japan for a couple of decades - If you're interested in central Honshu and want low key & very quiet mid week, then you need to avoid places that have been "discovered" by foreign tourists. "Central Honshu" to me means Nagano, Niigata, Gunma & Gifu...

I'd love to be at Pila with fresh snow. I've only had a day there in hardpack conditions but the whole ski area looked great.

I did see that. Let’s see it on the ground before we get too excited. To be honest I don’t want snowmaggedon because I don’t ski powder that is more than thigh deep well.

If I get desired conditions when I’m there in a few weeks I’ll go to a couple of small two or three lifts completely under the radar ski hills and post some pics and thoughts. If I get a warm up or what would be rain at the low elevation resorts I’ll stick with Shiga. I’m only skiing for 7 days...

Go to the ski areas where there are no Australian or American yobbos. This might mean there are no lively apres opportunities. Shiga Kogen for example has a very limited bed base but it Japan’s largest and highest ski area. The accommodation is antiquated and quaint and run by Japanese...
