    Wasatch Interconnect

I am not a tourist. I'd want very much to ski between the Wasatch Front and Back. 10 years from now, I see myself doing more backcountry skiing than resort. I hope to. I still want OneWasatch. Utah is big, Utah is empty. And the central Wasatch are no wilderness, despite what Democrats have...

    Whistler,Blackcomb BC Jan.14 & 15

You may be right. I am speaking from a few days here and there (Whitewater and Whistler) but repeated visits is something else altogether. Still, Whitewater was a pleasant surprise, before any exposure to the gems of Utah (Snowbasin).

    Whistler,Blackcomb BC Jan.14 & 15

Haven't been to Zermatt. Bu Vail and Whistler are similar in that they've been designed to look like an Alpine village. It's like sex, sometimes the stupidest thing ruins the mood.

The village at Whistler is Disney, full stop. I'd rather have the bro-bro atmosphere of Brighton, even, than that. And if I was to drive up north, something like Whitewater or even Kicking Horse and Revelstoke (never been) would be on my list before Whistler. Having said all that, you can't deny...

I don't recall a TR from Whistler here, ever. Considering it is rated the No 1 resort by the readers of one magazine, that seems even odder. My one time there was an early Dec visit that coincided with a big cold storm and my memories are all positive. Which is what it all comes down to for how...

Those are some untypical photos for them here TRs. Very enjoyable. Also enjoyable: a little bittersweetness. Unlike the usual "made it to every rope-drop" ;)

We were at Canyons on Christmas Day. No pictures and no desire for a full write-up so this is relegated to a comment instead of a new thread. Good stuff. 10 inches sound about right. There was dramatic (more so than usual) drop-off between something like 9990 and the base -- deep and snowing in...

    Epic skiing down the mountain

Hi Olle, That video has become very famous the last few weeks. Maybe this particular board is not the best place to share it. I will say that it doesn't do too much for me, because it looks like a pure display of courage. The best videos for me, are when courage is combined with grace of...

Park City Mountain Canyons Park West Wolf Resort announced!

    >PCMR has "nine open bowls"? Yeah, I was puzzled by that, too. I checked the map and see 4 named bowls, and calling McConkey's an open bowl is really pushing it. > ever found the Canyons terrain that will "challenge any expert," Well, that's a bit of hyperbole but I've seen that term repeated...

Yes, the map images are visible now. And my Wikipedia edit actually stuck, so far. Yey. >they MUST argue over each and every rock and stump It's not that I must... but only 15% open at my mountain (boo) so I am free to argue. And you know that is not the good 15%. Yes, yes, Alta... I know. Dammit.

    Mt Bachelor 12/13 Summit Open

I was just reading on wasatch weather weenies how horrible things are across the board in Washington resorts. Are they all at a lower elevation or are you guys faring better in Oregon? Pictures look great and seems like hardly anyone is there.

On an even lighter note, I am glad Marc_C changed his avatar. Gawd, I was pissed at that stick-man for not making it to the top, and would keep watching, hoping he'd make it.

socal, just don't tell admin. He runs the whole thing, you see, and we need him. And he is an alright guy, except when challenged. Not materially, but challenged nevertheless. PS your images didn't show, but I get the gist of it.

I will have to keep this little spat in mind, when possibly discussing something less concrete with Admin. He clearly will not budge from a position. It doesn't get more little-endian/big-endian than this.

Admin, you seem to be maybe thinking of separate ridges as defining front and back, whereas my understanding is that you take the spine of the range; anything west of it is front and east is back for the wasatch. That's what makes bcc front and thayne's and every other pc canyon back, even...

Anyone can draw red lines on a map... But it takes true commitment to edit Wikipedia to reflect your side of the story: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snowbasin

Like your version better: "Motherload" vs "Motherlode" ;)) For some reason I read all that thinking it was Marc_C posting... and thinking "Man, this is awfully polite for him" and "How does he know all this re PCMR?" I will comment on the only topic that I am expert in: food. I like to hit...

Park City Mountain Canyons Park West Wolf Resort announced!

Read all about it here: http://www.firsttracksonline.com/2014/1 ... t-in-utah/ As for the name, it is only my idea -- but you need something like that given how wide it will be. Otherwise, you can't write it across and fill the space on a map. What do I like about it? 20 minutes...
