    Cancel Ski Trip?

Red Mountain installed the Topping Creak lift near the bottom that has some nice blue runs. If snow is good, your wife will likely enjoy them. They are longer than they appear on the map and powder may last for days on them.

    Cancel Ski Trip?

For me any skiing is better than not skiing. Therefore, if it was me, I would still go. Since you are driving, you can easily change your itinerary as needed.

The snowpack was not particularly deep, however that was not the limiting factor for the conditions. Apparently winds the week before were up to 100 km/h. That turned the high alpine off piste into a rutted up hard surface. If it hadnt been for that windstorm, off piste options would have...

I am on the plane and heading back to Canada. My first trip to the Alps was fun, but a little disappointing with regards to conditions. I think Zermatt had similar conditions to what everyone experienced in other locations. On the plus side: Amazing lift network with Trams, Gondola's...

The guide company shares your concerns regarding snow conditions. I also agree the Gotamas are a decent off piste ski. I bought them as my Mt Tremblant all mountain skis to handle the bumps and eastern glades. However they can also hold an edge on eastern ice. I am going to take your...

My dilemma is far too much of a first world problem. Never having skied in Europe anywhere, I am not sure what kind of terrain, I will find myself skiing in Zermatt. Trail map looks mostly like groomers with only a handful of ski routes. I have one day of booked guided freeride, but the...

There is a very interesting documentary “Buried” on Netflix regarding the tragic 1982 Avalanche at Alpine Meadow's. It was an enormous slide that buried the lodge , parking lot and access road. Apparently the entire alpine meadows terrain is all avalanche paths.

Its been a while since I have been in Utah, however most North American resorts have cafeteria style dining. I will occasionally bring my own lunch and see others doing the same. It is unlikely that you will have any pushback.

Prices for cat skiing have ballooned in the last 2 years and are far outpacing income. That combined with other increases in cost of living could be having an impact on this kind of discretionary spending. Mustang small group steep chutes is up to $2000/day.

I appreciate the suggestions I have received. Thanks. Another question. We are taking the train from Zurich to Zermatt. I am planning to take my skis, however some have reported this to be a significant hassle on the trains. I have a nice rolling ski bag and usually combine the...

Keep in mind, Mustang is sold out for this year. These seats have already been paid for at full price. They are likely reselling for someone who has already paid in full. The first buyer is the one taking the loss.
