    Searchmont Reviews?

Searchmont is a great ski/snowboarding area, with some hard terrain and 700 vertical feet, you wont find that at other ski areas like boyne, or nubs nob in lower Michigan. The lodge is very rustic and not much happens once the lifts stop going other then a small bar and some finger foods. They...

    Schuss Mountain

Danks response was right on target. Shanty Creek is not as big as boyne, and the lay out is kind of strange. They have 2 hills, the main one by the lodge, and a smaller hill just down the rode. They have a free bus system that runs around the massive golf complex if you want to try both hills...

    Mt Holly 1-4-08

LOL @ Ski Rangers, I like that name, more of a army feel to it. Glad to see they were making people fill up the chairs, I swear just about everyone in Michigan would ride up solo if they could. Thanks for the report

Hehe, I thought I might catch some crap about a rest day  That rest day is always subject to change. Well Dank I hope your unlucky weather pattern holds true, as I always thought it was me that just missed the big snows ;) Yes, Grand Timber Lodge is giving me 4 lifts for taking a 90min...

Thats a good sounding trip Dank, lots of skiing! I will be in the same area about 1 week later for 6 nights. Looking at Grand Timber Lodge studio (ski in ski out), they also have a 4 pack of ski lifts good for Breckenridge, Keystone or Arapahoe Basin for $159 ($40 each) BUT i might have to do...

I am with you on the re-opening date dank, we had tornado watches last night, and LOTS of rain. My friend out in Brighton said there is almost no snow left on the hills. I am used to a January Thaw, but NEVER this early and this warm and this long. Hey, I am hitting Colorado in march also...

Squaw Valley post-control release 2 men hurt

FULL STORY The thick blanket of new snow was welcome news for ski resorts, but made for some dicey conditions in the backcountry and even at one ski resort. Two skiers were injured after being caught in a snow slide on Squaw Valley USA’s KT-22 Saturday morning. The men, who suffered leg...

To South Lake Tahoe, Via Sacramento highway 50

I have drove from Reno to South Lake Tahoe 5 times in my life, all with sunny sky's. Nice drive, took about an hour. Due to much cheaper flights we are coming in VIA Sacramento. We have a 4x4 Chevy trail blazer and will be leaving the air port around 2pm on a Thursday. Google Maps show 2 1/2...

    Apline Valley 12-30-07 & 1-1-08

Hit AV on 12-30-07 it was hard, icy, and just down right crap. The rains that came during the week before took out most of the 12" of snow on the ground. I left that day after 1 hour. 1-1-2008 was one of the best skiing days southeastern lower Michigan could ever ask for. 12" - 15" of new stuff...

    Avalanche at The Canyons

I also recall Mammoth Mountain in April had a slide in-bounds last year, no one was killed. I guess the bottom line is, humans can help reduce the chances of avalanches, but never eliminate them. Very sad story, I hope the 11 year old can recover.
