So/Cal Baden Powell 4-18-09. The Torn Track Pants T.R.

Thanks a lot everybody! It means a lot to have well wishes from this forum. Recovery is going well and my brain is at about 90% full function, Just some dizzy spells which might just be medication issues and some balance issues while walking. I hope everyone had a great season. Tom

So/Cal Baden Powell 4-18-09. The Torn Track Pants T.R.

Unfortunatly my ski days might be over as I suffered a head injury which resulted in a brain injury. I was in the hospital for a month and just got out of the Brain rehab center last week. Hopefully everything will get back close to normal and I will be able to ski the bunny slopes again....LOL

    Mt. Waterman, CA 2/21/09

The face definantly holds it's snow well. Some of the best times at Waterman were after we closed for the season. We would run for sightseers on Chair 1, but if you had your skis you could still find lines down through the trees and Lynn charged $10. I would run the bottom of the lift with a BBQ...

    Mt. Waterman, CA 2/21/09

Ticket sales at Waterman started to drop when Mammoth, then Big Bear got High Speed Quads. MW was always a great alternative to the long lift lines that these areas had on weekends and we could always plan for about a 1000 -/+ skiers on the weekends. That is why Lynn would always book a shuttle...

    Mt Waterman 12-21-08

I no longer have anything to do with Mt. Waterman and have been staying out of the conversations on this site, but back in the Newcomb days that was the #1 rule...Nobody skis the hill before the public. Everybody worked until chair 1 and chair 2 were ready to go and open to the public. Then we...

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

Well! The scumbag doctor that owns Newcomb's Ranch (yes, the one under FBI investigation for healthcare fraud) told Rick if he hires me that Waterman people won't be welcome at Newcomb's. So I will not be at the mountain this year and will not be a source of information any longer. The...

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

I talked with Rick about the website and he agreed that the website needs to be kept up to date and it looks like I will take that over (and you all know how much I like to talk about MW). He is also hoping to get the old 790-2002 number back. Today I have a Health Dept. Consultant coming up to...

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

MW Update: The summer maintenance on the lifts is being completed and we want to thank Louie Corrales from Bear Mountain for coming over and doing the NDT work, every thing should be ready for state inspection soon. There was a very nice memorial service for Matt yesterday, but MW will move...

Sad news from Mt. Waterman today. GM Matt Schoefield passed away last night from complications of luekemia that he was battling. We all loved Matt and he was the main reason Waterman was able to reopen last winter. Matt put his heart and soul into getting the lifts up to code and recertified. He...

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

Waterman needs a lift mechanic with NDT certification for summer maintenance and NDT work. If there is somebody out there that anyone knows about even if it is someone from another resort looking for some extra income please call me at (661) 400-8873 or email me at TomPMoriarty@aol.com. Thanks

Hey Snowave! You are correct, no more Sysco. They drive down to Restaurant Depot in Pasadena to pick up food. They have been doing it for awhile now but didn't get a refrigerated truck until after I reported this practice to the Health Dept., lucky they didn't get someone sick. The food is...

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

Interesting development at Newcomb's Ranch. The FBI raided the City of Angels Hospital concerning a Medi-Cal & Medi-Care scam with the homeless. They were taking the homeless off Skid Row and admitting them into City of Angels through Dr. Fred Rundall's office in City of Angels. Rundall is the...

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

Hey Russell! I don't know, I have left working at Newcomb's due to the unethical circus called ownership and management there. Therefore I am off the mountain and no longer involved up there. Tom

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

I don't think the plan would be Rave's like in the past and would be music of interest to an older crowd than those kids who launched off the highway. As for liquor, neither Kratka or Waterman have a license right now for that although Newcomb's could cater the event and have Beer & Wine...

They are also working on the idea of having a Music festival at Kratka this summer.

I agree, the website needs to be fixed and I am going to call Rick right now and tell him I am hearing complaints on that issue. The problem is that the owners have jobs down in San Diego mostly that made them the money that it took to reopen Mt. Waterman and they have to keep working those jobs...
