    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

Waterman, being the most northern of the SoCal resorts always use to be pretty good about getting snow out of these borderline storms. Most of the weather reports including SnowForcast are for Wrightwood and Big Bear. I can remember getting 6 foot drops out of these storms while Big Bear got a...

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

Oh! I know how much she makes, but we all know what her real job is. It is the worst run and worst managed restaurant I have ever seen. Lynn warned me about that going in but I have this love for the building (or did). I got into a huge fight with the doctor about the situation there last...

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

Carol It snowed a few inches. The base is getting closer and one good significant snowfall could do the trick.

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

Probably will get something going soon. Matt said Lynn has the 2002 # and wants like $2K for it. I will probably be out of there soon, going back to Newcomb's was a huge mistake. The Ranch has gone from being the best place I ever worked to the worst. The manager has no clue as to the...

Ha Ha! Just to clarify, Maya is a Siberian Husky not a Malamute and she is a bundle of energy and so cute.

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

Your both right on this one. Several years ago we got out the jackhammer and took out a lot of the big rocks on the face. With 2 feet you can ski it, but have your "Rock Skis" and your best bet is 2-1/2. To be fun and enjoyable I would say 3-4 feet is optimal and when there is 5 feet it's time...

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

I know Matt is working on those things now. He is working on something with KROQ he said. A lot of time and money was spent on getting the lifts up to code to get to this point of having permits. Marketing programs can't be set up till you know you can operate and now that is the next step...

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

MW will open after the first significant snowfall. All 3 lifts are good to go and permitted. The usual challenges will still exist to find employees come opening day. The Warming Hut will be operational but I don't see Rentals happening at this time. There is somewhat of a base on the hill and...

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

Yep! Looks like the curse of Southern California remains for yet another year as the storms miss us and leave only rain. Hopefully the one forecasted for next weekend will find its way here.

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

Well, Not Open Yet! But the final fix it's are done and permits are in the mail. NOAA is now calling for up to 2 feet of snow in the higher elevations of the Southern California mountains this week. Who knows? Maybe open by Sunday!

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

Russell! What's Up? Long time no see. Foot of snow predicted this weekend so hopefully that will get the base rolling. Hopefully a good and long successful season at Waterman to get some cash flow going to get Kratka fixed up for next year. Probably going to open it this year for tubing which...

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

Yesterday was Day 1 of the Load Test, all is going well with some issues to correct I guess. They will be continuing today and it looks like Waterman will be up and running this year. Another note is that the Angeles National Forest was closed yesterday due to critical fire danger. The roads...

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

Well basically Matt and the crew have rebuilt the lifts electrical systems to comply with codes and installed new comlines. This has been a lengthy process with some timing setbacks along the way that have resulted in postponments of the load test but the state seems to be working with them to...

    Mt. Waterman and Snowcrest/Kratka Ridge

Well, it looks like work is progressing nicely at Mt. Waterman. They have had to delay load testing, but have new day in October and if all goes well just in time for the season (hopefully if it snows!).

    Mammoth Patrollers killed today

Well I am pretty bummed out, I knew Walter Rosenthal back in my days at Mammoth as I use to drive the patrol to the cannons for Avalanche control. What a tragedy to lose a 34 year veteran that was one of the best in the country for avalanche control.

    Mammoth Patrollers killed today

It said they were replacing the fencing around it after all the new snowfall, when the snow gave away and sucked them into the vent.
