Fair enough, but conditions aren't the only factor that make the experience. Nix was scared stiff on Snowbird, although she was happy at Alta (actually she loved Alta). That being said, you are right about Colorado, she would've enjoyed Breck, but that would've cost quite a bit more in...

It was certainly not a landslide (i.e. resounding), but in actuality no election historically is truly resounding, i.e. 65-35 split. Most elections break between 50/50 and 45/55 with 45/55 being considered a landslide. This past one being 47/53 was in the middle of that scale. Furthermore, I...

The new little cloud lift should be a real nice addition. Of course Soulskier may say that it ruins the upper mountain, but I for one am looking forward to warming a seat on that.

I agree with Tony about thanksgiving, but disagree strongly with the after march 15th statement. My experience says there is still plenty worthwhile to ski in the park city group of mountains late season (hardly WROD).

Sorry to hear BD was sick, but man, Oysters are one of those foods best eaten close to the sea.

Round 1 to Joe Bastardi & Company

The following piece is the type of news that makes me think Joe Bastardi will ultimately be on the wrong side of this debate. http://grist.org/news/if-youre-27-or-yo ... age-month/

I didn't mean to imply that, just poorly written.

I love objective press like this that uses phrases like "We are still likely to win."

Round 1 to Joe Bastardi & Company

Hurricanes are meteorological events and thus aren't an indicator of global warming, so using historical rates of hurricanes certainly wouldn't disprove or prove Global Warming. The overwhelming data that has direct correlation i.e. glacial reduction, artic ice extent, sea temperature, sea...

Round 1 to Joe Bastardi & Company

I read the high pressure ridge over Greenland that forced Sandy into the low pressure area to east was in large part an anomaly dude to the higher than normal Artic temperatures. This could be wrong. Regardless, whether this storm was or wasn't amplified by global warming, there is no doubt that...

Round 1 to Joe Bastardi & Company

Most definitely true, albeit a foot rise over the last century or so, which may very well be in the statistical norm over a 100 year period. That being said, I think the evidence is overwhelmingly strong that global warming has occurred, and that there is no doubt that humans have contributed to...

Round 1 to Joe Bastardi & Company

Yes, the tides were 5 inches higher than normal. The high tide without the surge would've been 5'7", during a half moon it would be 5'2". Certainly, the confluence of high tide made a difference, but then again so did the fact that ocean temps up here were more than 2 degrees warmer than...

Round 1 to Joe Bastardi & Company

It's funny reading this thread, as very clearly when this thread first came out I was an AGW skeptic. I too like Muller have come around to some degree. I had followed Bastardi's predictions, and they've all been wrong. He's clearly gifted at parsing out individual weather events, but seems less...

Weak El Niño predicted for ski season

In other words: some days it will snow, some days will be sunny, some days it will rain (at least on the east coast).

    Big Sur 8/28-31

When I was 18 I did a similar hike in Big sur called Sevrani's ? (I'm not sure if that's how it's spelled) but it looked just like that, especially the how the fog rolled in under us.
