    The big Corona Virus Shutdown

vanhanbr, somehow what I wrote was confusing. I'm not saying car crash statistics don't exist. I'm saying the mortality percentage of car crashes is a simple formula... # of car crashes with a fatality / # of car crashes Do you see the denominator there? It wouldn't include car crashes that...

    The big Corona Virus Shutdown

To add, it's almost like taking really bad news (lack of test capability) and deciding that that's good news. Reminds me of the arsehole I know who had the flu on Monday (2+ weeks ago) and went to work on Wednesday. Then discovered it progressed to pneumonia the next Monday and inexplicably...

    The big Corona Virus Shutdown

LOL if that were true I'd expect to see it re cancer or car crashes in some study. Carry on.

    The big Corona Virus Shutdown

It's hard to believe this illogic keeps getting repeated. Mortality rate is a statistic with a simple formula. Covid, cancer, car crash, whatever -- the deniminator would NEVER include unreported, holy cow...

    Mountain High, Jan. 23, 2020

I need to get to Mountain High, it definitely looks fun! To ski these surfaces too slow wouldn't work at all, otherwise it's like a railroad track and the liftriders all enjoy the show. Every time in January there's at least one good sunny ungroomed run and several in the shade. P.S. Which...

Mountain High, End of Liz' Ski Season?, Jan. 8, 2020

Oh no, get well soon Liz! What's the deal with filling prescriptions? When I open up the bottle all I see is somebody had to count out 28 pills, yet it takes longer than if they had to milk cobra venom or something. Can you imagine if you pay the pharmacist in cash, and now he has to count out...

Great report! I haven't read pugski in awhile, whoever mentioned "shovel guy" is awesome... https://www.pugski.com/threads/19-20-so ... 913/page-7 Tony, did you arrive at Chair 3 via Beginner's Gulch? P.S. I went on Sunday too and the snow on Thunder was better. Also this whole time of the...

    How to identify icy areas

Re the subject just go to Mt Baldy, hop aboard Chair 3, and look around. If ShiftyRider is nowhere to be found on the descent, it means that Emile's and Liftline are too icy...

More Shenanigans on Mammoth Mountain Snowman Facebook Page

Anybody ever get to the bottom of this? Prolly something as simple as messages getting lost in translation (to put it nicely LOL). Present company excluded of course, Facebook people gotta be the dumbest on Earth (even tho I've never had an account, yikes). My friends who do it are always...

Right ski pressuring Left ski steering... Same idea Right foot pressuring Left foot transitioning from pressuring to steering... Combination edging and steering can be found in any halfpipe competition. Also elite slalom ski racers, where the upper body always faces downhill but the knees...

    Mammoth, Apr. 26-28, 2019

tl/dr there's 3 ways for a ski to turn (edging, pressuring, and steering) but beginners (make a pizza w tips together tails apart), terminal intermediates, and folks who tend to choose runs where you ski ON the snow instead of IN the snow only practice edging. Edging: since skis are narrower at...

Mt. Baldy, CA, Apr. 20, 2019

When I telemark in velvety slush it comes down on top of my head the whole way down. For powder, I recall the last or second to last season of Mammoth's old Chair 5 the snow piled up real deep under the lift and you could spray the liftriders if you weren't careful...

VIDEO: Deer Valley, UT camping & skiing - March 2019

Okay, hmmm, lessee. I'd like to point out that the other Grand Adventure vids I've watched didn't suck LOL. BTW are the Deer Valley skiers accustomed to gourmet dining? They're putting their wet gloves and sweaty helmets right next to their food while they eat, cracks me up everywhere every time.
