A friend and I Skied in 9" of graupel today 7 Feb at Snowbird. Weird stuff, but fun in a surfy sort of way. Avalanche on the Defiance/Tiger tail side of the mtn shut everything down at 3pm.

That was a rather pessimistic piece. Fortunately, there was an uplifting ending: "But there is hope... Maybe... the inevitable Boomer die off will ease the housing crunch." :icon-lol:

@kingslug if you ever want a geezer's tour of Snowbird let me know. I'll be on that hill quite a bit the rest of the winter. I also ski Solitude and Brighton a fair amount.

Solitude, 1 Feb 2025: It actually wasn't as snowy as that photo looks, about 6" new at the time. I think they got another ~6" by Sunday morning. But storm underperformed a bit. More snow coming to Utah starting 5 Feb, perhaps significant amount.

I currently have subscriptions to the WaPo and NYT. The NYT is new to me. When I try to share articles from it they don't seem to work for people I send them to. I guess this thread is explaining why?
