i learned something new today (RORS). always learning something from Tony....... Since we're on the subject of Taos culture (pics from Taos Pueblo), I do recommend folks who like events to check out the Taos Winter Wine Festival (first week of February). If you have $ , check it out. Nice...

did you get any pics of him skiing over his goggles/sunglasses/etc? seriously though, nice pics. the entry to kachina lift ......as you alluded to -- unnecessarily complicated. why????

Taos has always been known for the bumps. K chutes are a blast - kinda like the Cirque - requires focus, lungs (12k feet!), and quite a bit of effort if it hasn't snowed in a while. there is some incredible terrain off to lookers left (tree skiing) - luckily i had a local guide me around...

totally agree on all points Tony. FYI , Snow Valley does the 4 pack for $100. It's 25 min drive for me from Arrowhead, so it's a no brainer to get away from the computer screen. When I lived in Claremont, Baldy was a no brainer - up and down. The 4 pack of tickets can be used anytime...

    LCC Overcrowding

Look......Snowbasin is incredible terrain. However, half of Ogden shows up on a good day. If I'm looking for groomers - Snowbasin is awesome as is Park City. If there's 6+ inches or more, PowMow always delivers the goods. As you know, SW flows deliver the goods at PowMow. Tony/Marc C...

    LCC Overcrowding

lots of great comments on the article, and good article, thanks for sharing honestly, I've only come up with one conclusion for myself (my budget, my patience level with traffic, my apres needs, and my unquenchable quest for powder). my conclusion is Powder Mountain. no place like...

Such a great place. Hope you had a good time in quiet Arroyo Seco. Good place to lodge -- affordable - lots of great little options on AirBnb. There's a great restaurant around there (Aceq), lots of fun. Kachina is all time........lots of steeps - and can't beat the view. I've hit it...

    Snow Valley 3/22/19

I arrived at the mountain and loaded onto the quad at 9 am (back in the 80's, this place would open up at 730 -- WTF is this Utah or something)? Pretty frustrating..........anyways... Headed to some unskied areas off of chairlift #8/9 (defunct). As this area requires a cat track return...

They're there alright! I think these chairlifts were quite necessary when the snowpack was more reliable 20-30 years ago and there were frankly a lot more people. The parking lot is massive -- and some days it would get quite full. WIth the last 10 years being abysmal, they've really had to...

    Snow Valley 3/13

Headed over to SV. One thing that's certain about skiing in SoCal. Decent conditions often don't last long. When it snows, the sun comes out shortly thereafter, which causes the temperatures to reach above 32 degrees. Well, considering this is a big desert, it often drops below 32 at...

    Snow Valley 3/12/19

Beautiful day in the Socal sun. I arrived at 1 pm. First time I've skied Snow Valley in .....15 years? Hard to say. Very few folks were out, some kids on spring break. Virtually empty. I lapped the new high speed 6 person chairlift over and over. I'm guessing the vertical drop is...

Mt. Baldy, CA, Feb. 12, 2019

80 mph winds yesterday at my house in lake arrowhead. it was gnarly. rain washed away all the snow...snow valley's pack is crap now......pretty unfortunate.

https://abc7.com/weather/freezing-temps ... y/5132301/ some video from KABC7.........uff what a mess hundreds of inexperienced drivers with no chains followed by a couple inches of new snow on one of the windiest accessible roads in socal? what could possibly go wrong?

Mt. Baldy, CA, Feb. 6-7, 2019

https://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la- ... story.html as i alluded to previously, unless there is 2+ ft low density snow, followed by a bluebird day midweek, you won't find me at baldy anymore (especially on a weekend).......that road attracts too many folks who don't have the driving skills...
