    World Cup 2026

Now is very different with MLS. The are 30 teams with a median value of $670 million and three of them over a billion. In many places we have a substantial foreign born population that loves soccer plus a couple of generations of American kids like Adam that played soccer extensively. MLS...

In what conditions? Is there enough traffic to prevent huge suncups and big irregularities from forming?

    Old skiers

Liz and I currently stay at Mammoth at the home of a former ski racer we met through Lonnie. Sam is 83 I think. Often there are other people there, nearly all of them between my age (73) and Sam's, and most with ski racing backgrounds. Almost none are still racing and most are confined to...

    World Cup 2026

I was at Dodger Stadium and did not see it live, but at first I could not figure out what that Swiss player did to get his second yellow card. But a later review should give James some satisfaction. Embolo got that card for taking a dive!

    Yellowstone Club, Mar. 6, 2026

I was quoted 800-1,000. Based upon observation, that seemed reasonable. It's not unreasonable to suspect that might be above average due to the 11 inches new snow. What proportion of North American ski areas have anything above tree line? I can easily argue Yellowstone Club is an above...

The above mentioned incidents were at least a decade ago and the January-March pattern continues with no end in sight.

    South America 2026

After my 2004 divorce I skied in the Southern Hemisphere the next three seasons. ??? That's a long trip, so plenty of time to chase where the best snow is, even if as far as Chillan/Corralco. Do not even think about booking lodging until immediately before arrival. If we had not committed...

    South America 2026

Snow data is very sketchy. In our South America threads I will erratically post Portillo season-to-date numbers. When I was at Portillo in 2007 Iooked up Henry Purcell and he provided me with 1970-2007 data averaging 254 inches. Here are the last dates in seasons I have looked up Portillo...

    South America 2026

Wrong question. 2009 was the last overall above average season. There are threads here on FTO about most South America seasons since then, and probably a quarter of them had similar starts. The seasons that started strong were usually lean in July and later.

Evidently Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce had a "mini-honeymoon" at the Yellowstone Club earlier this week.

    Western North America Conditions 2025/26

I had already changed the Whistler location in my core regional page for the Pacific Northwest. The spreadsheet that feeds the season summaries said "Roundhouse." I have fixed that so this issue won't recur.

    Western North America Conditions 2025/26

I have a project for takeahike46er. I have data from near Whistler's base/Alta Lake from 1967-68 to 2008-09. Environment Canada has not updated hardly any online monthly summaries since then. I asked Leslie Anthony about this in 2018 but he did not do anything. I'm sending a PM with...

    Western North America Conditions 2025/26

I should change that. When I started collecting data in the early 1990's, my understanding was that it was from the Roundhouse. I'm sure that past 15 years at least are from Pig Alley, and possibly since the 1999 merger of Blackcomb and Whistler. For 17 years before that, Blackcomb had a...

    South America 2026

It would but we have seen this movie before. Storm forecasts a week out in South America are like Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown. :icon-lol: IMHO nobody should be committing $$ until that snow is on the ground. This situation is an echo of mine in 2015. There was a much hyped...

    Western North America Conditions 2025/26

Final OpenSnow post for Canadian Rockies about July 3-5 closing weekend. Pics showed chairs going up not full so it looks like not excessive crowds midweek. I wonder what the weekend was like? That was a very unusual event and Calgary has a large skiing population. I searched and came up with...
