****** Note to Ski Area Owners and Managers!!!!!!

I think that maybe econimic concerns are closing some places down early. I know that many colorado mountians are on state and fed lands and are required to shut down for elk migration etc (ie steamboat). Colorado seems to be more guided by enviromentalists then any of the states. Hence no winter...

    Breckenridge, CO 4- 5&6 -08

Nice pics. Breck is overlooked a bit in terms of terrrian quality( I guess most mountians are by non locals) The wind blows there alot in early season and I would not travel there until mid feb for good coverage and better weather. THe town is great and attracts many to the area. The lower...

Never ski Vail on a weekend, BC is better option. Vail on a weekeday with powder is a real treat. YOu can find untracked at 4 in the afternoon. Some of the back bowls faces are plenty steep ~40 is my impression and the run for a good 1200 vert. Only been to snowmass for 2 days you have a real...

tseeb-Spent a few hours with my mom(56) at Alta and snowbasin in powder. Can be very diffcult to teach, she is on Fat Loves and they float like snowboards. I couldn't get here to charge turns, she would try to turn up the hill as soon as she got moving (2-3 turns in). I tried to tell her that...

Telluride: Gold Hill 6-10 (& Palmyra Peak)

It was mid dec of 04 i believe, then late april of 00 very wet. Damn teaser vaca rate they put out on there site. I know it is just bad luck but still makes you bitter.I know I am not the first to complain about wet snow there.

    Solitude 27 Mar 08

I like 5k vert fallline sking as much as the next guy but come on. Solitude has some good continuious vert of the summit and the easterly area. bottom 1/3 is a bit crazy, considering there are alot of resorts in new mexico, airzona , cali, idaho ,wyo, orgon and wash that many people never heard...

    Wolf Creek, CO 3-28-08

Skies a bit like Grand Targee, both really special places! Both a bit like vail back bowls with less people and better snow. Diffucult destination resort if you can't pick the "right" days.

Telluride: Gold Hill 6-10 (& Palmyra Peak)

I for one hope that tride does bring some (not all) lift acess to that tuff stuff. As a vaca rider on a time crunch I am looking mostly for lift servered or sub 20 min hiking. I go for max vert when I am there and usallly the quality suffers.

Telluride: Gold Hill 6-10 (& Palmyra Peak)

One thing I would never do is race around up there. I don't have the mountainerring knowledge or equipment. Hiking up baldy is one thing and hiking /moutainerring over exposed traverses is another. BTW delerium dive is open now report said 15cm overnight. Pretty cool inbounds minamal hike area...

Telluride: Gold Hill 6-10 (& Palmyra Peak)

TOny I agree with most of your posts. I have found little problem with long hikes coming right of the plane. I race olympic distance triathlon occasionaly and trian with a group that does Ford Ironman (Lake Placid this year). I am sure that if I was racing you up Palmyra you being from altitude...

Not to flame but Squaw overrated skied it all by age 8 (not dropping cliffs that was still not allowaded in the mid 80's) Jackson lift served what, nuff said. Over rated on shot makes everone get there panties in a bunch. Wistler talk about snow quality issue, never had good luck iin 2 trips...

    Monarch, CO 03/02/08

Sounds like a fun trip! The drivers in CO are a pain mostly because there are alot of them on Fri Sat Sun going up there from Dtown. No different from the drivers in SLC or Cali in my opinion. East coast NY's going to vermont suck too! Just talked to a friend that was in CB and said it is...

    Alta/Snowbird, UT 2/27/08

Nice pics, the guy who had the pics of our day had shutter speed real slow and all the pics where to blurry to even look like a ski hill. I thought the chute was only rated to the end of the rock on skiers right where it opens up. Can't be more then 300 to that. Sorry to highjack the thread BTW.

Admin- I saw a few of those from the tram, right? Looked nasty and exposed, it was early Jan and the weather cond made everything seem to just go on into the abyss, simalar to when I was at Sunshine in Deliurum wher it was foggy at times and unerving. Marc C- Corbetts is by no means as long...

Wow that TGr stuff is unreal! I thought the pics where great. I dropped Corbetts in Feb 2003 on a snowboard. The entry was not particulary big maybe 10ft. I didn't find it diffcult and I don't consider myself a Rockstar like many on TGR. I have actually had more undy wetting skiing Galaxy 5 in...
