I can’t tell you how many times I have driven to Platte and have had zero snow on the way and then all of a sudden a quarter a mile from the base lodge boom there’s 6 inches of snow
no one is more skeptical about reporting then me , but i might have to agree with those numbers... I have seen first hand the diff between Platt and Bell and Hunter . This is especially pronounced with a North/Northwest flow..ie lake effect... with a regular "nor easter" the differences are much...
we have central and split system....the split (Mitsubishi) fried it's circuit boards 2 yrs ago , parts under warranty , but the labor wasn't..800$...last month same thing , fried boards , yippee they are warrantied. Not the 1200$ in labor...
I don't surf , but i did windsurf at competent level...i could do a laydown jibe... when you are hooked in and back in the straps..warm flat water , it might be the best feeling ever!!! i imagine surfing is similar. i got goosey writing this
In the Northeast we have a similar scenario ... On a typical summer day the temps at the beach might rise to the mid 80's/30c..then around 2 ish the sea breeze turns on..temp will drop back into the low or mid 70's... this cooling breeze only penetrates 10 or so miles inland.

Haven't skied Hunter since Epic took over.. I refuse to ski any Vail owned resort( yeah i'm crazy).. Hunter Mtn proper is one of my fav Catskill hikes...Correct me if i'm wrong, the ski area tops out around 3200 ft +-...
My daughter lives in Cambridge, she will only ski in Southern New Hampshire when day tripping..She has a Indy Pass and a uphill only pass at Pats Peak..
