    2021-22 Season Recap

Was going tomorrow but that is not going to work. Probably next weekend, and with some luck my first ever June ski day back at Big K.

Definitely bigger than I've seen it the last 10 years. Up to the chair list is somewhat "normal" but this year it is insane. Above the lift, most of the way and bigg(er) piles on the "thin" spots.

    Conversion from phpBB to Xenforo

I didn't do that much to help really, but I am glad I did. It's great to see you guys using the forum. It's the same old (good) stuff, on a way more usable platform.

    Aspen, CO: March 10, 2022

Will definitely ski QC when we move to NY. Mrs Road is counting on it. Right now, if I feel like driving crazy distances for better snow, VT makes more sense.

    Aspen, CO: March 10, 2022

Good detailed answer Tony thanks. It's true I don't care much about variety, or skiing outside of NY/VT. I can't really explain it, I've never been normal in that way, and some other ways too. (Still not sure in a "normal contest" I might beat you TC ;)!) If I go out west, it will be after I...

What is the best thing about Aspen? Why go to the effort to ski it?

Thanks for clearing it up. I was just looking at it thinking that 147 is too high. What's Killington's total for the period you cover? 41.63 x 6? How far back do your numbers go?

So after posting 6" yesterday hours after the snowfall stopped, Gore just updated the storm total to 18" which I'm sure is more accurate. Still WTAF. @Tony Crocker if you are indexing NY mountains to Killington remove an extra 10-15% for the (lack of ) green mountain effect. Method probably...

This year they hired Stephanie to be the marketing person to replace Emily who now works for Mike in LP. She was responsive, although we had some disagreements on amounts. She was trying to take it to the next level. She didn't last a year, she quit at the end of March. If anyone cares, I...

Case in point, Gore Mountain. Here is my buddy's yard, 200 vertical feet below the base of Gore: Gore reported 6 inches.

???? I like Whiteface a lot. I made it our logo!

Whiteface gets more snow, elevation and latitude and also lake effect. But those 200s they put up ...? Using the theory that you have to be able to ski the snow by riding a lift... haha not going there.

Gore 1500 feet. Whiteface measures a base and summit number, but uses the summit for a season total.

Tony, Gore got a foot overnight. Not reopening until Saturday, could easily be gone by then. In your system do you count it? I will.

I don't know how you came up with this but it's too high. 150 is the marketing number. The real number is about 120. How far back did you go?

It was a Christmas family tradition to go on the 26th and ski every day for 8 or 9 days. Sometimes it was good, sometimes not. With a teenager we aren't going to a 12x18 cabin for a week when the skiing sucks. Also I used think, I was getting in shape for when the snow came. There is some...

That's an generous interpretation of my situation. More like "having the sense to save driving for days when there is a reasonable chance for soft snow." The reason my days are down the last two years (25 vs 35 long term average) is that I've essentially cut Nov/Dec days from 15 to 5.

Check this out. Holiday Valley and Holimont are like 4 miles apart, at the same elevation.

This year Plattekill reported 82 inches (I think) and I have Gore at 99. The difference was actually much bigger than the 15% difference, as Plattekill had even more rain. Gore did have a lot of rain, but there were 2 or 3 storms that were snow at Gore and rain in Roxbury. To me it just seems...
