    I see. Whenever I've looked at cams this season it's been dumping at Portillo and just cloudy at 3V. Figured it must be better topography responsible for double the snowfall.

    It's currently above freezing and drizzling at Valle Nevado meanwhile it's dumping cold smoke at portillo. It seems Portillo just gets way more snow than the 3 valleys resorts, despite VN having a higher base elevation. Anyone know why? Just more favorable topography?

    Chillan won't be skiing well this season I think. The storms have been coming in too warm for its elevation. There is still almost no real base and the next storms look to rain to mid mountain at least.

    Looks like Valle Nevado underperformed its forecast while Portillo overperformed.

    Agreed. If this August gets even just one or two additional refresh storms of 8"+ each it will be epic.

    If the open snow forecasts are even close to being accurate, the 3 valleys resorts will receive their total seasonal average over the last 10 years in one storm. Who knows, maybe this will be the only atmospheric river this season.

    South America is no rockies. Hell even the rockies can suck. Vail and Aspen had zero actual base by this same date in January. Scary times we're heading into.
